1001 Lost Knowledge [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-07-06, 09:47 PM When the gaint civilation fell, it was the same as the fall of Rome in the real world. What knowledge and technology do you think was lost to the folds of time. Warforged are an example of it, as well as bonding elementals. Such technologies are just now being rediscovered and being put back into action, but there are others still waiting. What are your ideas that are waiting for the common races to find and use. Lets make a list of tech that was lost. I'll start it.

1. Warforged
2. Elemetal Bonding (airships)

09-07-06, 10:31 PM 3. If you have the Lost Empires of Faerun book, any of the stuff from that, (scepters being my favorite, like wands with higher level spells) works fine.

4. The Prophetic Ramblings of Alder d'Cannith. He was said to have predicted that the houses would always be "Tweleve" far before certain marks were ever discovered. He was exclaimed to be a rather mad & "quirky" individual. He even wrote down his more interesting ideas into stacks of journals which were soon gathered up by House Cannith and locked away.

5. Alder d'Cannith legacy also holds a strange mystery. Soon after his death the labratory of the infamous Cannith was "misplaced" never to be seen again.

09-08-06, 05:58 AM 6. Protections against the Quori. The Giants seem to have managed to keep the Quori out of their dreams (by creating buildings where they would sleep and shut off their parts of Dal'Quor from the Quori-dominated areas, I think)

09-10-06, 09:42 PM 6.2 Items able to detect or protect against mind-seeding/Quori possession. Items like these would be priceless to anti-Dreaming Dark rebels & easily worth killing to recover to Dreaming Dark agents.

7. The methods used by the Gatekeepers of old to seal/bind the Daelkyr lords in the depths of Khyber. Arguably a few senior Gatekeepers still have the knowledge, but how long before a seal is breached & there is no knowledgeable Gatekeeper handy to restore it?

9) Methods of raising livestock and growing crops, using a blend of magic & mundane techniques, that yeild food much faster than mundane farming alone. Consider how much more food a nation of giants eat than a nation of humans, elves and dwarves.
