| Charles Phipps09-29-05, 04:15 PM | Just random things you'd add that you think is cool from your Eberron and the like. Feel free to comment on any of anyone's previous touches or better still, add your own. If many of these things are forbidden by my other thread, I'll just admit I'm a hypocrite. 1. The National Aeronautical Void Administration (NAVA) in Breland that is obsessed with building bigger and better spelljamming systems plus also means of travelling across the lands of Eberron very easily. 2. The Red Cloaks hold the equivalent of the status of Green Berets in Breland. 3. Orinthopters exist along with the much cheaper Hippogriffs, Griffons, and other creatures in the Breland Air Corps. 4. The head of the King's Citadel is nicknamed "M" because he's a Marshall. 5. Wands of Magic Missles resemble AK-47s 6. Explosive or Long Range magic arrow tips exist for bolts and arrows in Eberron, why guns are uncommon. 7. Lightning Pistols are an aristocrat's weapon and hideiously expensive but in existence. 8. Eberron is blessed with "magitech" as essentially it's standard advanced science but magic allows the 'rules' of normal science be bended so things far above the 18th century science can be created. 9. Zepellins and Balloons exist along with "real" airships. 10. The Population of Eberron as listed in the books is approximately X10 larger in my world. 11. Cannonballs exist in "stored" fireball globes along with with cannons. 12. Engine Rooms exist in Airships. 13. The Realm of the Keeper has Nine Levels and each is ruled by a Prince of it until the "Keeper" at the bottom and may be a manifest zone to the Nine Hells. 14. Xoriat is also known as the Abyss. 15. House Khuranni ARE ninjas. 16. Hobgoblins are Samurai. 17. Riedrans are equivalent to Imperial China in Culture. 18. House Boromar is vaguely mafia like like in their behavior. 19. The weight reducing spells of the artificers of Eberron allow metal battleships to be made. 20. The Court of Queen Aurala combines Louis the Sun King and Queen Elizabeth. 21. Sharn's Bay has a "Collosus of Justice" that's capable of animating to defend the city named Lady Justice with scales and the Code of Galifar in her arms. 22. Galifar had the best qualities of the Roman Republic and Roman Empire plus technology largely more advanced and widespread than anything pre-War. 23. The Dhakanni were equal to Galifar in technology but not social progress. 24. The Rajahs are the Great Old Ones. 25. The Silver Flame contains Cthulhu. 26. The two great underwater races of Eberron are Selkies and Tritons. 27. Valenar have all the samurai culture themselves but mishmash Westen elements of chivalry, huns, and dueling culture. 28. Queen Aurala has Crossbowteers as her Royal Guard 29. Cardinal Kronzen is a shapechanged Ancient Red Dragon worshipper of Khyber that was picked by Cthulhu to free him and has severed every "Chosen One" since the start of the flame, leading them to ruin. 30. Drow have cultures equivalent to the Aztec and Inca currently in existence as vast empires and several abandoned cultures equivalent to the Maya and Olmec. 31. The Aurrum is the most powerful group after the Four Nations in Khovaire and greater than any 3 of the Dragonmark Houses. 32. The Demon Wastes are Athas with the Lords of Dust replacing the Sorcerer Kings and lesser demons replacing Templars. 33. Karrnath is a combination of Russia and Germany in it's portrayal. 34. The Dark Cabinet are known as the "Karrnat" and have werewolves, vampires, and nearly every wizard in the land. 35. The Karrnath were reduced to Stalin-era desperation/determination in the Last War and lost more causalities than the other three nations that survived combined. 36. During the years before the Last War, Erandis D'vol lead a gigantic army of the undead that successfully took over Karrnath for a century and menaced the nation until her 'defeat' and believed death. 37. The Umbargen are in no way related to standard drow. 38. Below Khyber is a Hollow Ebberon that's far less hostile and inhabited by odd folk. It's directly accessible from a tunnel from Frostfell. It's inhabited by many Giant offshoots. 39. The Giants Culture is known as "Atlan" 40. All Daelkyr have the names of demon princes. 41. King Boranal is a mixture of King Arthur and Azoun with his kids a mixture of similiar qualities...but lacking any sense save for idealism. 42, Thaliost's situation is similiar to Belfasts with routine terrorist attacks by the "New Aundair Party" and the largest Sovereign Host population in Thrane, making up roughly half of the city. 43.Merrix D'Cannith is the head of the Aurrum and an inventor of countless evil gadgets. 44. Psionics do not exist in Eberron, only sorcery. 45. Argonessans' Dragons have technology and magitech equivalent to Star Trek levels but it's all hidden by cloaking fields so the continent appears uninhabited and rugged. 46. The Lords of Dust care nothing about human politics and merely encourage corruption and anarchy as part of their games/religion. 47. All sorts of devils exist in the Lords of Dust, not just Rakahasas. 48, Thrane is religious in part because it's largely a rural and insular bible belt series of farm communities with knightly castles and cathedrals interspersed but only a few major cities. 49. Cyre was an Italian Renassiance like land. 50. Northern Breland is somewhat like Scotland and has historical friendship with Cyre. 51. The Valenar humans are somewhat akin to irish in their beliefs and while not liking the Valenar....largely hate the other nations far more. They call themselves "Belenar" (allusion to the god Belenus from Celtic mythology) and were exploited/conquered by Galifar. They await a High King who will unit them and raise an army to restore the Kingdom but prefer valenar rule until his arrival. 52, The Emerald Claw is a proper Knighthood with many allusions to the Knights of takhasis from dragonlance in their combination of clerical, arcane, and physical force and their "honor" to their goddess. The majority of agents and recruits are not knights of it though. They long for a return to the Vol ruled Karrnath of the past. 53. Some Cyreans have set themselves up as ranchers, selling their cattle and buying horses from the Valenar, in the Talenta plains. There is conflict with these settlers. 54. There's much imperialism going on from Brelish and Aundair on the Drow in Xen'drick. 55. Q'Barra is much like New Orleans and a refuge for the lost. 56. Throneport is a den of piracy. 57. The Dragons of Argonessan call Eberron Bahamut, Khyber Tiamat, and Siberys Chrononespis and speak of the Sovereign Host as their children and a greater conflict with Io and a Darkness behind khyber. 58. Things like Radio exist in Sharn and in the militaries of the Five Nations but the technology is sparse. 59. Lightning Tanks exist but were never as common as warforged. 60. The Last War gradually started with higher technology but degenerated to lesser technology as the conflict continued. 61. The Lord of Blades is a charismatic and aristocratic REFORGED rather than a warforged juggernaut with the Juggernauts and the like being machines 'cloned' to serve as body doubles. 62. He's much like Doctor Doom and a brilliant inventor. 63. He might even be Aaren D'Cannith rather than a warforged at all, pupeteering. 64. The Warforged have a city of some 20,000 in the Mournlands and its filled with many human slaves. 65. Warforged are terrifying to people because the Average warforged tears through normal soldiers and is treated as a tank on legs. 66. There's still many POWs held in Karrnath from all five nations, being held hostage for economic benefits and leverage. 67. Karrnathians are incredibly racist and tend to treat other races as chattle while women suffer eberron's only glass ceiling. 68. Magic both arcane and divine is born from Eberron's moons as their Dragonshard cores radiate energy upon the planet. 69. The exception is Druidism. 70. Druidism worships Eberron directly and is the religion of the "Dragon Between" 71. Siberys' cult is a small group of astrologers, fortune tellers, and historians...and is largely worshipped by House Sivis. 72. The Dragon Prophecy is largely based around supposedly a perfect record that Siberys gave the Dragon that was married. 73. Lizardmen are often enslaved and treated as property in Q'barra, being used to raise plants. 74. Dreamlilly is literally opium in my games. 75. A mad Inventor is making a massive Tower in Fairhaven that will draw all evil spirits in Aundair into it (thank you Real Ghostbusters) 76. The religion of the Dark Six is rarely genuinely worshipped but many people are priests of them to propagate them. 77. The exception being monsters whom consider their gods to have been unfairly adopted into the Host as evils or completely seperate. 78. There are hundreds of gods in Eberron that are lumped together into the Sovereign Host under various names. 79. This was, historically, ordered by Galifar to unify the religions and is used as proof that the SH isn't real. 80. Morgaive University is very similiar to Miskatonic and 'investigators of the Arcane.' 81. Kalashatyr culture in Eberron is either "Secret Villages" or nomadic with numerous signals to show that you are really such. 82. Kalashatyr are widely hated and distrusted for their racism against Non-Kalashatyr (anyone can be possessed) and strange abilities. 83. Priests of the Silver Flame are celibate. 84. The Sovereign Host faith is known as the "Holy Order of the Star Kings" due to the constellations of them. 85. Sovereign Host as a faith has "Priests", "High Priests", and a "Grand Priest" who heads each god in each nation, with no single head. 86. Clerical magic is very rare and "Miracle workers" are treated with a 'off hand' touch due to their power. Much like saints. 87. Priests of Arawai are forbidden from spilling blood or taking a sentient life in any form save that of undead, demons, or abberations. 88. Arawai is also the Goddess of Healing in Eberron. 89. Doctors swear by the Arawai Oath and many priests of her are trained physicians. 90. Monks of Eberron learn their fighting styles during the war to protect themselves from pillage. The Monks of Dol Dorn always did it but emerged during this time to make it a major part of their faith and are masters of martial arts non-parrallel. 91. Paladins are obscenely rare even if many Cleric/Fighters call themselves this. 92. The Mournland has many qualities that are equivalent to Radioactivity. 93. Druid magic can remove some of the poisons and contamination. 94. Gold Pieces are actually gilded and "true gold" pieces are worth X10 the value of gilded ones. The same for every other coin. 95. Adamantine is known in our world as titanium. 96. The scientiffic name of Dragonshards is orihalcon. 97. Droam is inhabited by monsters mostly because Galifar drove the majority of nearly exterminated species that evolved on Khovaire into it. 98. Dargunn is built around gladiator fighting, slave labor, and is like a nightmarish Roman Empire given life. 99. Tira Mirron may or may not have existed and the Silver Flame always been there or at least til the age of the Goblins. 100. Dragons largely have an oath of "Non interferrence" with the "lesser races" much like the Prime Directive. 101. The Quori rely on this and the Lords of Dust disinterest in opposing anything that promotes evil to keep their plans going. |
| megamania09-29-05, 06:57 PM | 102. The "87" After LoB created some warforged he tinkered with already damaged forge. The next 87 warforged are all special in some unique way. Then it went bad (either broken or creations out of his control) 103. Lord of Blades has visions and honestly thinks he doing something just. Is he insane, Being used or just crazy- PCs will eventually decide 104. The original Cannith "warforged creator" did not die. He has taken to hiding in Xen'drik and is now a Lich. He is improving the warforged to be very human in appeareance. Why is another question 105. The bridge over River Scion that once connected Aundair to Karrnath is a 25 MILE long bridge. It is almost fully repaired by the end of 998. 106. Darksun traits / themes on southern island of Xen'drik. Very undead heavy So far, that is about the limit of my changes to Eberron material. |
| Charles Phipps09-29-05, 07:05 PM | I like the idea of a warforged lich and the whole "huge monuments of magical engineering" personally in the bridge. 107. Artificers have a 3rd level Infusion called "Collective Project" where they can raise the level of the highest level artificer by 1 for every additional one of them working on it. Hence, how so many high level creations exist. |
| Tek09-29-05, 07:41 PM | To many of the numbered ones don't make sense out of context unless you read the thing above it. |
| Charles Phipps09-29-05, 07:50 PM | To many of the numbered ones don't make sense out of context unless you read the thing above it. Any examples? but it doesn't matter. All of these are fairly things that anyone is welcome to add from random characters to huge changes they make. |
| aelryinth09-29-05, 08:28 PM | Hey Charlies, Adamantium is supposed to be a pretty heavy metal. A better analog to it would be Tungsten, the strongest of the known metals (tungsten carbide is used in lightbulbs since it holds up better then anything else discovered). Titanium would be a better option for Mithral. just my 2p. Also, if Karrnath was conquered and ruled by Vol, that happened during the years of Galifar, which meant all of Galifar was involved in the fight to get rid of her, and Karrnath was effectively liberated by all the other nations. For the nation that was the seat and forge of the Galifarian kings, they sure have fallen a long ways. ==Aelryinth |

| ryanroyce09-29-05, 10:37 PM | 108. The Red Crest - a coalition of Jorascos, clerics, adepts, bards, and talented experts formed during the Last War to tend the wounds of all nations. They wear red-trimmed white tabards with a red crest of the Sovereign Host on the chest. Slaying one during the War was a monumental no-no, since your side would lose their services for quite a while. 109. Small Gods - The known gods of the Sovereign Host are merely the ones with a widespread presence across Khorvaire. Many hundreds of small gods are worshipped across the land, though their faiths rarely spread beyond the scope of a single community (ex: a god of bridges known only in Erlaskar of the Eldeen). 110. "A Rising Tide Lifts All Boats" - Due to the heavily mercantile nature of Khorvaire and the abundance of wealth in widespread circulation, the people (commoners included) of Aundair, Breland, Karrnath, Thrane, and Zilargo are generally more wealthy than their neighbors (and their core counterparts, too). Mechanically, this means that 1st level characters have more starting wealth (*20 instead of *10) and Profession checks earn more per roll. However, this is largely irrelevant to PCs, who earn ghastly amounts of cash by adventuring, but serves to bolster many of the conceits of the Eberron setting by giving NPCs more money to spend on lowly magic items, lightning rail fares, and the like. 111. Incantations - From Unearthed Arcana, this system allows NPCs more access to magical ability without actually taking levels in a spellcasting class. This bolsters the "wide magic" feel of Eberron, IMO. 112. Knights of Galifar - An order of knights, more akin to Musketeers than actual Knights, that is devoted to the glory of the Kingdom of Galifar. It survives in tatters within Q'barra, regaining their strength in isolation. Anyone familiar with the Knights of the Rose & Cross from 7th Sea know the feel that I'm going for here. 113. Goliaths - The goliaths from Races of Stone, giantkin that they are, serve as the friendly native race of Xen'drik. They are also found on the surface of the Ironroot mountains, descendants of a tribe that escaped Xen with the elves. More later... Ryan |

The Karrnathian history of military and dominance is somewhat tempered by this period. Many Karrnathians aided and abetted Erandis D'Vol and it's actually close enough to the Last War that part of the hatred against the other Four Nations was motivated by their uniting against them. Other Karrnathians were fully united AGAINST Erandis D'Vol. It's important to note that Karrnathian culture is a mixture of the pride in defeating Erandis D'Vol and a lot of her cults that existed amongst the peasantry well after the liberation. The reason for "abetting" was that Kaius' ancestor, whom he actually killed himself (a Lich) was the King whom chose to aid Erandis D'Vol in the conquest and he's sort of the major reason undead monarchs are pointed out as a TITANICALLY bad idea. Kaius himself later allying with Vol is sort of one of those "ultimate irony" things. Those shouldn't be new numbers, they should be tacked on to the ones above them. Err...Tek, there's not exactly a system for this. It doesn't matter. Most people will get it. Just sit back and relax. I love all of your additions RyanRoyce. 114. The Knights of Galifar in my games were based on the concept of the Knights of the Round Table and were fairly unified in their "do goodery" until the time of the Last War. Many of them eventually became members of the Wardens of the Forrest rather than fight in the Civil War. 115. The Wardens of the Forrest run a fairly extensive spy network across the remains of Galifar and work hard to funnel slaves from Dargunn and those fleeing political oppression to the Eldeen Reaches. 116. The Atlan Giants still survive in Frostfell in sort of a "Savage Land" style nature preserve. They have largely fallen from their lofty heights but still consider themselves 'purebloods.' 117. The original giants lived something of a better part of 10,000 years and the elves, dwarves, and humans are their degenerate descendents. This is because of the Quori's influence on them. 118. The Undying Court, Blood of Vol, and other "non-God" based divine religions are supported divinely by SOME outside force rather than possessing a force of their own. Possibly the Sovereign Host or Flame or the Dragons or possibly the Rajahs. The Silver Flame might also be a non-god. 119. There's a legend that at the end of the conflict with Khyber, the souls of the Realm of the Dead will be freed. 120. The Lord of Blades' group was called "The Iron Nation" 121. The City of the Lord of Blades was called Prime One. It was built over a secret House Cannith factory and Cyrean military base and one of the most defended locations in Eberron. 122. The regalia of Galifar included the Sword Caliburn and for the Knights of Galifar, it's twin Celeburn. 123. King Kaius the Now Vampire was a mighty hero in his lifetime and his descendent King Kaius the Current is often unfairly compared to the man. 124. King Kaius' loyalty is to Karrnath and Karrnath alone. He will do anything to protect it. He genuinely cares for the people of Karrnath but he believes that they are somewhat akin to his property. 125. King Kaius intends to step down eventually but wants to fully rebuild Karrnath from the ground up first and replace all of the corruption of the nobility with pure and ruthless warrior-nobles that he may be expecting too much of. 126. There's two King Jarlots. King Jarlot the First whom is the one described in the Five nations as an insane egotist who practically ruined Khovaire with his paranoia and overspending. There's also King Jarlot the Second whom won the war of light and darkness but died in the process. His son Dracon the Seventh and the previous heir before Cyre's claim was King of Karrnath and previous heir to the throne sold the land to Erandis D'Vol for immortality. Suspicions over Cyre's collusion with Vol and the fact that the succession was broken with Dracon's treason are major contributing factors to the Last war. That and disputes over spending and rebuilding in the aftermath of the Vol War (or war of Light and Darkness). |
| ryanroyce10-01-05, 12:36 AM | 127. Incarnum is the ancient magical art of a long-dead reptillian humanoid empire in Q'barra (i.e., the mishtai). The Knights of Galifar have recently uncovered these mystic secrets and have been using it to reestablish the Order throughout the rest of Khorvaire. 128. Raptorans are native to Khorvaire and can be found in small groups scattered throughout the continent, though they are found mostly along the southern coast from Droaam to Darguun. The largest single community of raptorans exists in Sharn, where their ability to glide (which is naturally enhanced by the manifest zone of Syrania) makes the City of Towers a comfortable (and profitable) home. Many are valuable members of the Couriers Guild of House Orien, using their natural talents to express deliver parcels from one tower to another. 129. National languages of the surviving human kingdoms (Aundarian, Brelish, Karrnathi & Thranish), once surpressed in to encourage cultural unity, are resurfacing slowly but surely on waves of nationalism, though Galifar's Common shows no signs of fading away. 130. Cults of the Dragon Above are becoming more popular throughout Khorvaire, stemming mostly from the kobolds and gnomes of Zilargo. They are everything that the Cults of the Dragon Below are not, in a nutshell. Ryan |
| Charles Phipps10-01-05, 05:16 AM | 131. Queen Aurala is very "Roman" in her beliefs in the fact that she is certain that an organized and united Galifar is the only way to help the massive numbers of people suffering from the war and building a better society. She has a somewhat ignorant view of the realities of war and also believes that the populous will largely thank her in time. Her Royal Eyes are something of a means she intends to make sure that people welcome her overlordship. 132. Pontiff Jaeala's hat is something she's supposed to grow into. |
