Inspired by the setting itself, one of my players playing a swashbuckler, the new dragonshards article, and watching pirates of the carribean one too many times I decided to make this thread. What are some swahbuckling manuevers that would fit right into Eberron? Here are some starters:

1) Finishing a drink in the middle of a fight.

2) Kissing a swooning fan in the middle of the fight

3) rolling down some stairs on a barrel.

4)jumping on a table, catching the opponents chin in doing so.

5) Fencing with a long piece of cutlery

14. Making up spontaneous rhyme to embarrass/enrage an opponant (read Act 1 of Cyrano de Burgerac for the best example of this ever).

I once DM'd a group that had a paladin, Sir Philip Beckwith, as part of the group. He was taunted by his nemesis, a Quasit, for about six levels. This was in the original Temple of Elemental Evil.

It started out when the diminutive creature attacked the party when the (paladin) was first level (they found a secret door very early on). The party retreated from the attack.

From then on the Quasit followed the party around invisibly, taunting the paladin with this rhyme:

I have the power to smite
Instead I run in fright.
I'm the mighty paladin
I run away from little men.

He stayed just out of reach of the paladin's longsword. He was always showing up at just the wrong time, like when the party was trying to be stealthy.

He'd appear and yell out:

Whatcha sneakin' round for?
Didja know yer mother's a [censored]
Oh, I'm the mighty paladin.
I run away from little men.

It was great fun. Eventually the paladin caught him and killed him, but it was fun for about a year. That was about ten years ago now. Now, in our group, whenever someone does something cowardly, someone inevitably shouts out:

I'm the mighty paladin.
I run away from little men.

(You have to say it in this high-pitched kenderish/quasitish voice)....

Anyway...

I guess I digressed on that last post, eh?

So, did you ever notice how everyone seems to create an Aragorn-in-Bree sort of character who wears a dark cloak with the hood pulled over casting shadows on his face.. blah, blah, blah...

All those people wearing capes? A swashbuckler would have a field day with all that cloth. You know, pull the opponent's cape over his head and beat him with any nearby blunt object, pin him to walls by the cape, set it on fire, cut it into ribbons.

116) I know everyone has said to use furniture as improvised weapons, but not how. So: While fighting, jump ontop of a chair or stool and, with your legs, kick the chair towards your opponents legs, while jumping to another! This could also be done with barrels.

117) Hang onto a chandelier, and while you are hoisting yourself up, fight with your legs.

118) If you are fighting on a ledge, jump off and hang onto the ledge to dodge a charge or blow, causing your opponent to fall off!

119) Kick spare weapons or shields on the ground up to your spare hand, to use duel weapons. When you've been disarmed, get a new weapon with this move.

120) Use an overhanging rope or some-such thing to swing down when you attack your enemy. Keep on attacking while you swing, each time you pass you attack. When the rope slows down, drop down on your opponent.
