| Charles Phipps03-15-05, 02:23 PM | Hey, this is a thread for your plots for the Lord of Blades to take over the planet. Since he's supposedly inspired by Doctor Doom, I figure the Lord of Blades is largely going to be a source of any number of arcane technology based attempts at World Domination. COBBBRAAA! So please list yours... Feel free to give a RADICALLY different interpretation of him. 1. I mentioned this adventure hook in the Sky Pirates thread but basically the Lord of Blades uses the dead bodies of Illithids and costumes with specially rigged arcane airships to impersonate an invading alien race as he attacks the Four Nations. His goal is to cause a panic and perhaps recruit collaborators to help his cause, the men unaware that they're helping machines that they would normally disdain. 2. The Lord of Blades has an idea to recover a great deal of eldritch technology. Simple, he creates a archaelogy company that investigates Xen'drick with a very large contingent of warforged. His Human conspirators in this are unaware that anything they find is being shipped along (with warforged guardians) straight back to their master. The PCs are hired to go work for him as well when he finds the ONNNNE item he truly needs. 3. The Lord of Blades has created clockwork constructs of existing members of human beings and is finally ready to create clockwork replacements for the Royal Family. He's also got it prepared that if these replacements are ever found, that human beings will be blamed in another nation and the Great War is likely to start again....which will only benefit warforged. |
| Von Ether03-15-05, 05:02 PM | I just had a different twist on him last night. He's actually an Artificer/Bard/cleric/Evangleist (complete divine). He uses his 10 level Convert ability to convert warforged to his cause. Another thought I had is that he's never said "kill the fleshies." That's all propoganda by the Emerald Claw to further confuse things when they use warforged mercs. |

I just don't think the Lord of Blades should be regulated to some sort of Populist leader amongst the warforged. So he can speak, so what? He can also make warforged. I think definite PLOTS are what he needs now. |
| Lapson03-15-05, 06:40 PM | 4-Well, he found out that Wands of Dispel Magic really annoy living spells, so he starts searching for nasty oozes in the mournland and driving them to human settelments, by the means of three warforged zaping the living spell estrategically. |
| KP9103-15-05, 06:58 PM | 5. Breland has created an Eldritch Machine to try to repopulate the Mournland. the machine allows normal healing to function ect. (more or less terraforming the land). The Lord of Blades wants his land back. The troops there were able to drive him back but the machine was destroyed, the PC's have been hired to defend and maybe even help fix the machine. 6. The Lord of Blades, in disguise has made another group of warforged minions. They are all druids and hate House d'Cannith for making them artificially and wish they were natural. They have been making attacks and raids on the House. They despise all warforged not in their group (got this idea from the episode of Futurama where bender gets a downgrade and becaomes made of wood. See new feat below). The PC's need to solve and stop the threat. Wooden Body [Warforged] Prerequisites: This type of body can be grafted on a warforged with a Craft check. The warforged must be able to take the feat when the check is made. The DC is 25, or 30 for special woods. A warforged with this feat recieves a +1 Armor Bonus and is considered to be wearing light armor. You lose the benefit of all other warforged feats they have. You lose all aromor check penalties except to swim check. Because of wood's bouence, you take a -5 check penalty. |
| Charles Phipps03-15-05, 07:33 PM | 7. The Lord of Blades has decided to acquire the other forge of House Cannith for obvious purposes and several artificers of House Cannith. In order to do this, he intends to use outsiders just in case his objective is hidden and will pretend to have his agents (using illusion spells) represent one of the Kingdoms that the PCs are friendly too. He will claim his objective is to keep House Cannith from doing something to break the treaty and merely lock up the Forge. 8. The Lord of Blades has decided its time to take over a country and has selected the Eldeen Reaches as the country he intends to dominate. Warforged owned logging companies, mercenary companies, and plenty of people working for clockwork secret societies exist to prepare the country to fall to his reign. It's privately supported by its former 'parent' but the LoB has no intention of returning it. |
| rwarner370103-16-05, 09:16 AM | The Lord of Blades has heard of the parties prowess and actually feels a need to have their help. He forces himself to bow to them before asking that they help him to eliminate Xulo, a giant warforged that has traveled to the Mournland where he may command the vast legions he feels he deserves. The Lord of Blades does not want to lose power and sees this creature as a threat and not an ally. |
| Demon in Shades of Gray03-16-05, 11:17 AM | The Lord of Blades has discovered the name of the artificer responsible for creating him, due to that artificer using a scrying spell to find the LOB. Using spells, the LOB uncovered the location of the artificer and has sent a squad to assasinate him. The artificer, in the meantime, has been doing one of two things: either planning to tell one of the Galifarian royals about the LOB so they can destroy him, OR working on some form of magic or device (ie, eldritch machine) that will destroy the LOB. The party is hired to defend the artificer. ------------------------------------ A branch of the Aurum has recently taken an interest in the LOB, seeing in him a new market in magic, weapons, and other goods. Big wars can be bad for business, but little wars are often beneficial, after all. The party sets out to invesitgate this branch of the Aurum and find what ties it has to the larger organization and how it can be stopped from helping the LOB. ------------------------------------ A warforged equal-rights group has come under attack by one of the LOB's lieutenants. The party must defend them, figure out why they're being attacked, and stop the attacks. ------------------------------------ The Daughters of Sora Kell seek an alliance with the LOB. They plot to take over Darguun through an intricate campaign involving the distraction of Breland through raids, then an attack on the Darguun capital by the forces of the LOB. With Lhesh Halraac (did I spell that right?) dead and most of his infrastructure over-turned, the Hags would install a Dhakaani over-lord whom they've managed to control. By the time Breland figures out what happened, they'd be facing armies along two different borders. Both Breland and Lhesh Halraac have some inkling as to what's going on, but little information to work with. The party is hired to find out exactly what the LOB and the Daughters are plotting and stop it. If the plot cannot be stopped or the alliance avoided, the party will serve as ambassadors of the Breland-Darguun alliance to any other nation that might offer aid in the upcoming war. |
| Sean Et Cetera03-16-05, 11:31 AM | 7. The Lord of Blades has decided to acquire the other forge of House Cannith for obvious purposes and several artificers of House Cannith. He will claim his objective is to keep House Cannith from doing something to break the treaty and merely lock up the Forge. How did he hear about the forge? Technically, it is a very, very, very well kept secret. Just like the one he controls probably is. Yeah, you could say that he (and his own) have encountered warforged who know nothing of the war and were not created by the LoB, but how would he know where it is? |
| Stak03-16-05, 11:56 AM | 14 - The LoB has his own Forge. He never said what size? The LoB has been making thousands of Warforged. Thousands of Warforged dolls. Tiny Worforged infiltrating every home in Breland. Remaining completely motionless the army waits for its signal to over throw the fleshies. The LoB plans for the takeover to move into action after the next 3 shipments of dolls sell out. With the last 3 shipments sold out, the Warforged dolls will out number the Breland population 5 to 1. best hook i got |

Eyewings, Mechanical Ravens, Priests divinations that worship him as a God, a Spy network of warforged keeping their eyes open and their mouths shut stretching over the entirety of Khovaire. A heavy investigation involving kidnapping and torturing House Cannith members to track down where the Forge went to begin with. The Lord of Blades should be reasonably omniscient. |

A heavy investigation involving kidnapping and torturing House Cannith members to track down where the Forge went to begin with. The Lord of Blades should be reasonably omniscient. Or maybe one of Merrix d'Cannith's warforged simply converts to Lord of Bladeism and spills the beans. Of course, I suppose Merrix might have considered that possibility and taken steps to keep the warforged he creates from knowing exactly where his creation forge is. Maybe he even anticipated it and can scry through the warforged he creates, in which case he might learn that the Lord of Blades also has a creation forge. In which case, too, you might end up with Cannith South and the Lord of Blades each trying to gain control of the other forge...all in secret, of course, because all heck would break loose if either forge became public knowledge... ...Oh, so many wheels within wheels... |
| Lily_Knight03-17-05, 01:21 AM | I think this is 16. :thinks: 16. The Lord of Blades takes on a friendly persona and hires the PCs to help him remove a death giant (MMIII) that has been terrorising the mournland. Unfortunantly for the PCs, this friendly discourse is fake. It is in fact an assassination attempt against the PCs. He has fed them the wrong information about this giant and as a result, the PCs are woefully underprepared. (I think this personally is a good way to wipe out annoying characters! :w00t: ) |
| Charles Phipps03-17-05, 02:11 AM | Thanks. 17. The Lord of Blades has begun cultivating a "dust" from the Mournlands that prevents healing and has begun spreading it into the city's watersupplies as he begins cultivating disease. In effect, the Lord of Blades is attempting biological warfare against the human race. Its in testing phase but if it works, he'll start "mining' the Mournlands extensively and then begin the equivalent of the Black Death for the Human Race. 18. The Lord of Blades has discovered an artificer who can create Construct bodies and transfer human consciousness into them. This "Apparatus" device he's using is just an eldritch machine but he thinks its an excellent idea to begin filling out the ranks of his people with a subrace. Thus the players discover kidnapping attempts as the Lord of Blades intends to begin work on assembly line conversions as soon as he's mastered the ability to make them his willing slaves (sadly easier done than said) 19. The "Serpentor" Lord of Blades plot The Lord of Blades is a creation of all the greatest conquerors and military masterminds of Eberron having had their consciecousnesses merged together by an Eldritch Machine House Cannith intended to use to create the perfect commander for their warforged. As such the Lord of Blades is a trifle 'unhinged' on occasion and demanding objects of power from his "old days" to be brought to him. Each item he gets, allows him to access more of the memories and abilities of said conqueror. 20. Humanoforged The Lord of Blades has discovered the ability through artificer technology to put the "essential essence" of destroyed Warforged into human bodies while trying to build a ressurection table for warforged (He used dissected Kalashtyr as th base). While weak and prickly, he's found it a wonderful way to insert his followers into key posisitions. He's thinking of trying it out himself. Perhaps on the King of Breeland. 21. The Lord of Blades has built a time machine with some Xendrick relics and is going to journey back to the Time of Galifar the First to convince him to start creating warforged early on with the foreknowledge of the Forge's location. By the time the PCs have arrived, Gallifar is about to have its massive warforged army turn against it. 22. The Sky-Warforged and the World of Tommorrow plot The Lord of Blades is kidnapping Artifciers all over Eberron and having them construct an army of GIGANTIC constructs and super-airship gunfighters to invade with Warforged pilots. |
| Zaraphel03-17-05, 04:50 AM | 23. Two warforged of a particular production serie develop a new dragonmark. It is interesting in that both dragonmarks appear to be completely equal and give the same powers. It is known that a significant part of the warforged from the same serie now are in league with the LoB. The PCs are send to find out if dragonmarks have appeared on warforged there as well. Is this a new pure dragonmark? Are warforged part of the prophecy? What's special about this serie? How do the dragonmarked houses respond? The dragons? The lords of Dust? Is it all just an elaborate hoax created by the two warforged who claim to have become dragonmarked? Depending on some of the answers this could be more of a campaign hook, then an adventure plot, but still.... |
| Eriedm03-17-05, 05:09 PM | 24: What if he kidnaps several prominent artificers, and mages and forces them to begin making half-golems, might be cheaper than more warforged, and the pc's have to rescue them. Might also be cool if the pc's were forced to work with an opposed group, like OotEC, to rescue the victems. |
| Charles Phipps03-18-05, 02:21 PM | 25. The Lord of Blades has created a new living creature called a "Micron Mist" that effectively can eat anything and add to itself. Unfortunately, the creature has escaped and is starting to move through the Mournlands. At present it can only eat metal and add to itself so there's less danger than there could be but its about to reach Breeland.... The Lord of Blades wants it captured so he can "fix" its problems. 26. Transformers The Lord of Blades has a plotting sidekick who is desperately out to lead his faction as a seperate leader his arisen amongst the warforged who wishes to lead a life in peace with biologicals. The Lord of Blades hates them as they do battle even as he has begun gathering energy cubes of magical energy to help 'mass produce' his new race. (Just wait until the planet sized warforged attacks that helped construct the universe) |
| Charles Phipps03-19-05, 01:32 PM | So anyone have any ideas for the Doctor Evil of Eberron? |
| Ayers03-19-05, 09:38 PM | 25. Why would he want to capture it though? Wouldn't he want to let it head straight for Sharn. An entire city of towers, of metal and magic...I think if anything he'd be trying to direct the creature towards Sharn and Wroat (I think). |
| Charles Phipps03-19-05, 09:49 PM | Why would he want to capture it though? Wouldn't he want to let it head straight for Sharn. An entire city of towers, of metal and magic...I think if anything he'd be trying to direct the creature towards Sharn and Wroat (I think). What I was thinking would be..... Because it will destroy the world and create an Warforged eating menace that will end life as we know it before evolving into a state that will eat the planet itself and probably move onto other worlds that it will devour before ending all creation. Well...worst case scenario. Then again I don't think the Lord of Blades is interested in genocide and certainly has no desire to create monsters that would consider his "chosen race" a tasty snack. Of course, he's not unhappy if it happens to eat Sharn or somesuch but he doesn't want something out of his control. |
| hiryuu03-19-05, 10:02 PM | I've mentioned this before, I sprung it on my PCs. A weapon smuggling group, along with some mysterious warforged, have been shipping perfectly normal, nonmagical wheat into Sharn under the cover of night and distributing it to restaurants and poorhouses across the city (and countryside). They at first glance appear to be using it as a cover for shipping in weapons, but the surprise is even greater when it's discovered through documents that the weapon shipments are covers for the wheat. Soon the Lord of Blades will send his squad of clerics to key points in Breland to await his command and announce his plan to the world to finish the slay living ritual spell inside the wheat along with a magical aura to make it completely undetectable, killing everyone who's eaten it, which by this point is the noble population and half the commoner population of Breland (after all, who casts identify on wheat, aside from PCs?)..... unless of course, the King of Breland coughs up land and hostages...... or someone stops him. |
| Charles Phipps03-20-05, 12:11 AM | 28. The Lord of Blades has taken over the Eldeen Reaches. The surprising twist of fate occurs when the Lord makes a deal with the Druids of the Land to be their "monarch" and brings his entire warforged following to "guard" the humans whose independence he largely couldn't care less to effect. Its symbolic though and results in a mass exodus to the Eldeen Reaches. How long can the Lord hold out next to the peaceful folk while he broods in his Castle? 29. The lords of blades wants to figure out how to make Warforged who can sexually reproduce. He's been working on several papermill like wombs for starters but he needs the PCs to care for the first product...why? Because he figures anyone who has an inkling of what he's doing will want to kill it and he'll pay a bunch of well armed nutcases to protect it...very well. |
| Charles Phipps03-21-05, 03:06 PM | 30. The Lord of Blades has a slight problem, he's been overthrown by an evil warlord known as the Hammer of Man (CE Warforged Fighter 10/Juggernaut 5) who doesn't want to RULE man but DESTROY it. The Lord of Blades having lost terribly to the PCs before is hoping they can help him recover his kingdom. 31. The Lord of Blades has made a deal with the Prince of New Cyre to get the nation of Cyre restored, having discovered several "patches" in the Mournland that can be used to make cities that are reasonably normal. The "deal" is of course treacherous and the Lord has kidnapped him and made him his puppet. 32. The Lord of Blades joins the party. Yes, he's communicating with a magical device of some kind and basically is pretending to be an average warforged. He's hoping that this will help keep his enemies off his trail to be accompany some PCs on their heroic adventures against evil. He holds back his true skill to make sure that they dont' suspect a thing. |
