| papytofu07-19-05, 08:55 PM | I think I just saw an easter egg in Five Nations, don't know if anybody saw it before me or if I am paranoid, but hey it's eberron secrets are hidden everywhere.... And after the traditionals hidden baker's dozen I tought it wouldn't be too much crazy. I was reading the book at page 61 chapter about breland when it stroke me; look at the small box : Brelish names more precisely at surnames the second one and you'll see : Bakker. Remove one K, doesn't it sound like someone we all know? Okay you'll say yes but Baker is a profession. I admit, but why the word have been changed? And why it is a K like in Keith? Also look two lines below this one and you'll see the only other name with double k : Makker. Interresting heh? We could say that mr. baker is the maker of this setting, also I don't recall where I saw that but it seemed that mr. baker prefered the mark of making, he've got a tatoo of this one... The only other word with a error in it is smyth, the only link I can see would be with Cannyth as they are some kind of magic smiths and I try to find why it is a Y if my K hypothesis is true. Ok I know I'm crazy but I really needed to say it, it was troubling me a lot... Thanks for reading that I'm now relieved. Anybody would share their thoughts on that? |
| Bobitron07-19-05, 09:09 PM | Thanks for that! |
| Edymnion07-19-05, 09:20 PM | I think you're reading a little too far between the lines... |
| MysticTheurge07-20-05, 12:54 AM | The only other word with a error in it is smyth, the only link I can see would be with Cannyth as they are some kind of magic smiths and I try to find why it is a Y if my K hypothesis is true. Cannith is spelled with an I. |
| Beleriphon07-20-05, 02:15 AM | I think you're reading a little too far between the lines... I think he's actually jumped right in and has forgotten to come up for air. :waits: |
| Setherial07-20-05, 02:45 AM | you guys have way to much time on your hands... |
| Edymnion07-20-05, 02:58 AM | I think he's actually jumped right in and has forgotten to come up for air. :waits:Amphibious, totally. ;) |
| Beleriphon07-20-05, 03:17 AM | Amphibious, totally. ;) Not sure about that one, as a former lifeguard, and Dave Hasslehoff enthusiast I really should do my hairy chested best to save the lad. From himself if nothing else. That being said, still not 5N for me. Stupid work, and FLGS being closed on Sundays. |
| PoeticJustice07-20-05, 03:50 AM | It's totally worth the wait. Just look at the level of minutiae people are examining within it. I only wish I had the time to look at it more closely myself. |
| Fordel07-20-05, 04:14 AM | Just because your paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get yea! :P |
| Stainawarjar07-20-05, 08:03 AM | you guys have way to much time on your hands... You can never have too much time on your hands! |
| zentr07-20-05, 08:16 AM | I don't doubt that those spellings are purposeful, as papytofu suggests. |
| mistakeagian07-20-05, 08:22 AM | A better theory would be why the name Pol is a common brelish name, Hmmm... Or Jonz, perhaps there are aliens living in Breland... |
| CzarGarrett07-20-05, 09:35 AM | Beware the Tuna Salad! |
| papytofu07-20-05, 01:40 PM | I take no offence heh. I'm the first one to think that i've read to much between the lines. But it is a weird coincidence. And no I didn't look so much closely, I just say one name (normally I jump over those box) but then I saw Bakker, funny...And why Bakker. When I saw Makker I've began to get more doubts. I am interested to know the writers opinions about that but I don't think they often read these boards But I admit it's summer, I in vacation and I don't sleep a lot. Also I've learn that my mother is in truth a Rajah. So I'm not in good form emotionnaly. Or maybe... yes I know! You are affraid now that i've pierced your secret, and you try to discourage me. You almost tricked me, but now tell me for who you work : The claw?Lords of Dusts? Dreaming Dark? the chamber? I wasn't supposed to discover this part of the prophecy? :D Tell me or beware the wrath of Cyre! Because I know this secret is deeply linked with the mourning! :D ( I think I kinda need a dose of D&D, I'll call my players. I need a session :D ) |
| Edymnion07-20-05, 02:42 PM | Yeah, I think you're just reading a bit too much into it. However, it would be cool if somebody tipped their hat to Keith and named an NPC Rekab. |
| Fraction Jackson07-20-05, 04:54 PM | This isn't a deeply coveted secret from Five Nations, but I'd like to point it out. Beggar Dane sounds near-identical to Benjamin Franklin, and Mr. Franklin would be a bard himself, seeing how he seduced so many french ladies. He has a high charisma. And the king of Breland, sounds identical to Teddy Roosevelt. Who was the bestest president slash ecological preservation activist evar!1! |
