| Tanvalis09-28-05, 03:36 PM | Again, MY PLAYERS STAY OUT! You know who you are! Robert, Augie, Danni, Cat, Brynn, Steven, Chuck and yes you too Josh. Okay, well I've just recently come into DMing again, I've been playing D&D for a while and I've DMed a few games over the years but never a full campaign, and well that's where I'm at now. I love Eberron, and I've already started running the campaign and I wanted to put this out there to see how the rest of you felt about it. Well first, I'm going to be stealing a hook right out of the explorers handbook, Boroman ir'Dayne is in dire straits and the PCs are going to try to find him a cure. That's the Short Version. I've got them hooked already, it's funny what a little mugging can lead to. Also, I've sent them to the Expedition Site yet again, they of course found something that the others didn't, a small room with lots of treasure, but upon looking at the pilar that the large limestone blocks were taken out of by the previous expedition they decided that the cure MUST be on the missing blocks. Now it's taken them almost 3 months to get to this point and they have deduced that the limestone blocks were removed during the last expedition... SO they head back to Fairhaven, now... I've decided that the blocks they are going to be seeing will not be the ones from the site, though they of course won't know that. Imre (again stealing right from the Explorer's Handbook), has sold the originals to pad his pockets and has crafted replacements for the vaults of the Wayfinders Foundation. He of course had the foresite to NOT put the correct ingredients down on the new, fake, blocks. Now, I'm at an impass, I'm not sure what the, fake, ingridients should be, nor am I completely sure about what I want the real ones to be. The PCs already have quite a few conspiracy theories, which I like, but they shouldn't realize that the blocks they are using are fakes until after they have tried to cure Boroman with the instructions on the blocks. As far as the REAL blocks, once they are tracked down and decifered they will discover that they are already in possesion of a few of the items needed to complete the ritual, as they found them in the secret room at the expedition site. That way they won't be TOO ****** off at all the running around. It also makes a bit of sense that once the giants who figured out this cure knew what they needed they started to get together the materials to actually concoct it. Anyway, what do you all think? And do you have any ideas for the ingrediants? |
| Thrincold09-28-05, 03:49 PM | Maybe have it really simple for them once they have the right blocks. Have the fakes missing a line. Its been damaged, which will lead your players to discovering its a fake. As for the real blocks, either the key missing ingrediant is inside the block, or one of the blocks, ground down itself. Just make it a little bit of a riddle. |
| Tanvalis09-29-05, 02:23 PM | I'm actually thinking a bit more than that. The PCs did manage to find some things that were left by the other two expeditions in a secret room. I'm thinking that the Chalice that they brought back will be a key component (as in the ingredients will need to be mixed in it). As well as the docent that the warforged found and is currently speaking with. It has the sentience of an ancient Couatl who fought against the demons. They will need him to say an ancient chant over the chalice and the ingrediants... of course I'm not sure what the ingredients are going to be. But that's what I've got so far... what I don't have are sutible riddles for the FAKE ingredients... |
