| Archangel6211-12-05, 03:37 PM | I think I just realized what the warforged were originally intended for and it's kinda funny. We've been wondering if they were meant to be soldiers, or workers but that doesn't seem to make much sense because of what they have. I began thinking and suddenly came to a bizarre realization THE WARFORGED WERE TOY SOLDIERS FOR GIANT CHILDREN Think about it, it's why they aren't really heavily armored, you wouldn't do that for a kids toy. Also, it's why they know how to fight apparently on instinct, they were made to be little toy soldiers. The Docent components were like accessories you could get with your action figure or things to upgrade them. House Cannith effectively found a toy factory and because of the scale they were usable as soldiers for humans. The Lord of Blades might not technically be evil, he could simply be programmed as a villain, ala Cobra Commander in GI Joe. Then again he might just have realized what he really was, a la the toy soldier who realized what he actually was and rebelled. Just an idea, might also be why the Warforged seem to feel so ill at ease without being given a purpose. Also why they don't get affected by poison and all those spells, what with Xen'drik being infested with all the poisonous creatures and so many giants being spellcasters. Not needing sleep might have something to do with the fact that if the kid wanted to play the toys had better want to play too. |
| jpwyrm11-12-05, 04:20 PM | Man, this is disturbing indeed. Your idea isn't that bad but I still think (and hope) it's not the true intent behind Warforged creation. After all, Warforged are sentient creatures and, as the toy soldiers did, they would eventually had rebelled against there masters. Then, there is still the size that just do not match. Sure, medium size is quite small for a Large kid, but you still get people (let just say, players caracters) who can manage to down a lot of a Large and larger opponents. Thus, unless the original Warforged were small, if not diminutive, I'd say it would have been a real threat to produce a lot of those toys. So, Warforged as toy soldiers? Probably not. Funny though :D |
| jpwyrm11-12-05, 04:21 PM | Stupid back button!!! |
| Archangel6211-12-05, 04:49 PM | As to why they didn't fight back the kids might have had some kind of off switch, let's see...that might also explain why there are all these expeditions to Xen'drik, those that know of the Lord of Blades fear him and are trying to find the item that can serve as a big off switch for Warforged. |
| Just another user11-12-05, 04:56 PM | Warforged, now with kung-fu grip. :D |
| AvonRekaes11-12-05, 04:59 PM | Warforged, now with kung-fu grip. :D You should see the warforged monk I made. Woo, now that was kung-fu. :P |
| Archangel6211-12-05, 04:59 PM | It could be worse, it could be that the warforged are something like the battlebot fad that we had in the US a couple years back.... |
| Just another user11-12-05, 05:30 PM | Wait a minute, so the warforged druids are REALLY like the Transformers!? |
| Orion Polaris11-12-05, 05:37 PM | Wazzzpinator, TERRORIZE! |
| reese11-12-05, 05:56 PM | Wait a minute, so the warforged druids are REALLY like the Transformers!? yes but only the ones from beast wars. that being said a warforged turning into a semi and rolling around xendrick would just boggle my players minds. i for one actually really like this idea, brings back memories of the movie small soldiers. but the LoB actually being evil because thats what he was made as is interesting. am i wrong in making the assumption that the warforged who are evil are gathering to the LoB and bulwark is a possible optimus prime? or could a PC actually be a model of the "good" commander and not realize it? could it be that while the new cannith warforged are made nuetral, their "toy" alignment is hidden in their subconscious and while some have realized it, the thousands of other warforged simply have not awakened to the fact? |
| Lurkalot11-12-05, 05:56 PM |   Non-obvious but it fits perfectly. Can't wait until the party unearths a perfectly presevered ancient warforged in the jungles of Xendrik with one of these (http%3A//www.fastdecals.com/graphics/autobot04_transformers_tn.jpg) on his chest. :D |

Heh, dude, my next WF is *SO* going to have a "tattoo" on his chest :D |
| Just another user11-12-05, 07:32 PM | So, this mean that the Lord of Blades can turn into a (normal sized, but extremelly powerful) crossbow? ;) :P |
| jpwyrm11-12-05, 08:10 PM | So, this mean that the Lord of Blades can turn into a (normal sized, but extremelly powerful) crossbow? ;) :P Yeah, and his followers can storm out of the Mournland in Dragonhawk, spitting eldritch rays form their wing claws! :P |
| Thwyvylyn11-12-05, 10:20 PM | THis reminds me of that movie "Small Soldiers" |
| Edymnion11-13-05, 12:12 AM | So, this mean that the Lord of Blades can turn into a (normal sized, but extremelly powerful) crossbow? ;) :PWF Artifact he recovered. Most of his mass is stored in an extradimensional space, and he becomes a +5 Human Bane crossbow :D |
| KingNeo11-13-05, 12:49 AM | I can see it now, a Warforged that can transform into a bath towel. No not you! The girl, the girl! Ahhh!!! Scarred for life. I know bad joke. |
| Archangel6211-13-05, 10:52 PM | small am i wrong in making the assumption that the warforged who are evil are gathering to the LoB and bulwark is a possible optimus prime? or could a PC actually be a model of the "good" commander and not realize it? could it be that while the new cannith warforged are made nuetral, their "toy" alignment is hidden in their subconscious and while some have realized it, the thousands of other warforged simply have not awakened to the fact? That might work actually, it would be pretty fun not to mention interesting to create an optimus prime of the warforged. However the whole story might annoy some groups and amuse others, but the idea is still there. |
| zambuka11-13-05, 11:07 PM | I think this link (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=266972) speaks for itself. |
| makeshiftwings11-14-05, 02:53 AM | Heh, dude, my next WF is *SO* going to have a "tattoo" on his chest :D Yeah, but you should make it a hidden tattoo, that, when pressed against a source of warmth, will allow the viewer to detect the Warforged's alignment. |
| Rocksa11-14-05, 03:31 AM | Wow, I am so tempted to make a few were-dinosaur templates and slap those bad boys on a group of five barely intelligent warforged. Maybe name them Grimlock, Slag, Sludge, Snarl, and Swoop...or some Eberron flavored form thereof. |
| LuciferNietzsche11-14-05, 03:52 AM | Now THAT was a story... To those who haven't clicked the link in the above post...DO IT! You won't regret it. Now, as for the original warforged being Giant's toys...it goes nicely I think with the story at the above link. It makes enough sense and is more than interesting enough that I think I might just go with it, until something directly contradicts it. I think this is going to be FUUUUUUUUUN! |
