A Dragons Dream Adventure [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-21-07, 09:12 PM I was planning on my party having to do an adventure in a dragons dream. The deal is that the kalashtar community in Sharn is going to hire the party to free a quori spirit that got trapped in a dragons dream. The quori is one of the quori that escaped the Dreaming Dark along with all the other quori that eventually became the kalashtar. But during their exodus he got trapped in a silver dragons dream. After much searching for lost quori, the kalashtar found the quori. They want to send the party into the dragons dream to free the quori where they can attach it to a host with the same process that made the kalashtar.

The Dreaming Dark has also caught onto what the kalashtar are doing, and naturally want to stop it. Also the silver dragon they are dealing with is a member of the Chamber that they have met, but they do not know she is a member of the Chamber or a dragon yet. She is currently in Sharn on your typical Chamber business.

So I was looking for ideas on what types of things might be in a dragons dream. I would also be interested in any twists that could happen in this little dream sequence.

Dragons have that racial memory thing so theoretically anything at all could pop up in a Dragon's Dream. They could see one hell of a Demon vs. Dragon battle or Undying Court vs. Dragon battle. Imagine having to navigate through that. I'd have them navigate through multiple dreams that flow into one another. I'd also throw in crazy dream logic a few times and depending on the dream the PCs would have certain abilities for that portion of the adventure.

If the Dragon is dreaming about flying the PCs can also fly in the dream. But maybe they can't look down or else, because of crazy dream logic, that puts you underwater where they start to drown. Maybe the PCs need to nudge the Dragon in a direction that gets him to dream the same sort of dream the Quori spirit was trapped in to find it.

Yea, I did get that adventure idea from Races of Eberron. I gave my group a bunch of adventure hooks to see what they wanted to do and off all the ones I gave them they picked that one strangely enough. I guess they wanted a surreal experience.

I do like the idea of the party having to go through various types of dreams such as the Demon vs. Dragon war and the Undying Court vs. the Dragons. It could be quite the image to see the dragons literally reduce the giants back to the stone age, and help doing so.

I could also have the Dreaming Dark try and stop this progression, both by throwing up road blocks, messing with their sanity, and just blatantly attacking them when all else fails. I was planning on the Dreaming Dark making the PCs lives miserable from this point on.

Maybe the dream they could find the quori in is when the dragons are considering the flight of the rogue quori and how it impacts the Dragons Prophesy. Then I could have the quori in an ice block or something along those lines.
