06-11-07, 02:31 AM I just bought the ECS the other day and have a few questions.

1. Clerics have relaxed alignment restrictions when compared to core D&D. Does this mean that in theory you could have a CE cleric of the Silver Flame?

2.Whats the story with Eberron Drow? They live in Xendrik but do they still suffer light blindness penalties and how do normal elves percieve them?

3. Any detailed rules on Skyships and Lightning rail anywhere? Not familiar with Eberron rule books.

IN THEORY though that is a tough combination to pull off. Unlikely though not impossible. Most likely a cleric would be lost in zeal and focusing too much on the combatting of supernatural evil and going too far. At that point though he may start worshipping the whisper in the flame. And other SF will most likely notice this sort of extreme behavior and attempt to guide him back to goodness.

2.Whats the story with Eberron Drow? They live in Xendrik but do they still suffer light blindness penalties and how do normal elves percieve them?

Magical experimentation by the giants to create Overseers for the elves during the elven rebellion. Tales say their creation had something to do with binding them to shadow or even Mabar hence their darkvision, skin color and darkness magical ability. Their resistance to magic and sla to see invisible creatures was to give them an advantage over the wizardly elves they were to oversee and make them harder to be surprised. A side effect of this process is that they do indeed still suffer from light blindness but they usually operate at night and in the deep jungle where this usually doesn't come into play. Some even live underground in caves or ruins etc.

It seems the (currently)jungle dwelling drow forsook their oath to oversee the elves and turned on the giants as the regular elves did. Others like the Sulatar still revere and worship the ancient giants and live in cities with impressive magical ability etc. And there are possibly others besides the Firebinders and jungle dwelling dark elves. They're a fairly diverse lot.

Normal elves don't perceive them. They're on two separate continents. Still the Aerenal elves are all about the past and the history of the Drow as overseers is remembered. I don't think there's a whole racewide hatred/revulsion for the Drow. Like I said. Some ended up turning on the giants. Others worship the giants. It'd depend on the Drow tribe and the Aerenal elf. It's a tough call and up to the DM. I'd say it's a pretty individual thing. Most would be indifferent. The Tairnadal would be unfriendly to them. Maybe hostile.

SoX is a good buy and has more details. I recommend it if you want to know more.

The ECS and EH are really the only ones to go into details.

How are they advancing the metaplot in Eberron adventure, products and novels?

:hides: Are you trying to get killed!? HEHE Eberron has no metaplot and for many, especially here on the boards, that's a big draw. The novels are not canon unlike FR and the sourcebooks are all set as the present year being 998YK. There's not even a metaplot to advance.

Yep, though a CE Cleric of the Silver Flame still believes they're doing the right thing and eradicating evil. They've just crossed the line. The Spanish Inquisition would be a real world analogy.

This is less on the Drow and more on the Light Blindness thing. Drow are still light blind. However they live in dense dense jungles for the most part. Dense enough that 'direct sunlight' is rare even during the day. Even so they are still mostly nocturnal. Still the Daylight Adaption feat is always an option.

If by "of sorts" you mean not at all. :) The Sharn Inquisitive is not canon anymore than the novels are. Of the articles on the site only Dragonshards are canon.

06-11-07, 05:19 PM I wouldn't mind some sort of small scale metaplot but to many worlds have been ruined by the big yearly crisis (FR) or cataclysmic events (Krynn, Dark Sun, maybe Planescape) as authors seem to dream up can you top this storylines.
