| Bubba33303-17-05, 04:55 AM | Oops! My bad, I meant "planaR" not "planaT". They're from the Planar Handbook thingie. They're very, very cool. |
| Ohtar Turinson03-17-05, 10:41 AM | Meanwhile, I, As a Planescaper who plays Eberron from time to time, thought Planar Touchstone were the most absurd thing I'd ever seen. Some of the sites were fine, but the actual rules to it... "kill the random monster and take a feat and you get a powerup!" fells too much like Mario to me. Not my cup of tea. I can see the appeal mind you- I just think that it was poorly implemented and easily power gamed. That, and it makes the Planes just another Dungeon, which isn't the case in Eberron anymore than it is in Planescape, albeit for diffferent reasons. In Eberron though... I could see certain extraordinarily dangerous locations that if you knew a certain ritual, you could gain some kind of power, though it would have a fearful aspect to it: If you venture deep into the Lair of the Keeper, and perform a final, terrible sacrifice, perhaps you can empower your twisted, abberent mark- but this is also a contract, and if you fail to consign a certain number of souls to the Lair before your death, you will be trapped there as if you had died there, beyond resurrection… or hope. If at the citadel of the Silver Flame, a servent of the flame of surpassing holiness and need might touch the flame, and through this pain be granted the power to banish and to bind- but should this power be abused, the very soul of the weilder shall burn for the transgression. |
