We all need them, card games... casino style games. This thread is for all to use, post ideas, get ideas, the whole 9 yrds. to get it started, heres mine

Black Bear
Played much like black jack, this was created by a Bugbear Bard to challenge the Pcs.
the PCs each roll four d6, add the dice together. The object is to get as close as you can to your roll. If you go over your amount, you break and lose, who ever gets closest to their roll wins, thats how Black Bear is played. All the rules for the cards are the same, an ace can be either a 1 or an 11

Zonk
If you want to make it something more "fantasy" sounding, go ahead.

Zonk is pretty simple. You take 6d6, and roll them. Determine who goes first however you wish. You score points in the following manner:

> Every one you roll is worth 100p
> Every 5 you roll is worth 50p
> If you roll three of a kind, that is worth 100p x the number

So, for example, if you roll 5, 4, 4, 4, 3, 1, that gets you 550p (5, 50p; 4 x3, 400p; 1, 100p).

> If you roll 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, that's 2000p.
> Any dice that did not roll one of the above combos may be rerolled.
> If, after all of your rolls, all of your dice have come up with point-earning combos, you may begin rolling 6 dice again, adding to your previous total.
> If, at any time, your dice come up with none of the above combos, 3, 4, 4, 6, 2, 2 for example, your turn ends and you get no points. If you have gained any points already, these points are lost. This includes if you roll less than 6 dice because some have already come up with combos.
> After the first roll, you may choose to stop rolling at any time. You then record the number of points you rolled. The first player to 5000p, or 10000p wins, depending on the game.
> If you get enough points to win, each other player may roll the dice one last time, giving them a chance to beat you anyway if they end up with more points than you.

A few examples of rolls:
You roll 1, 1, 3, 5, 4, 4. This gives you 250p.
You have 3 non-combo dice (3, 4, 4) so you may roll these again in the hopes of gaining more points. Or you could stop rolling, mark down 250p, and pass the dice on.

If you choose to roll again, you get 2, 4, and 6. You can't get any points from this, so you lose the roll and must pass the dice. You do not add your 250p, that's the price you pay for takinga risk.

If, however, you rolled 3, 3, and 3, that would net you another 300p, for a total of 550p. You would then have the option of rolling all 6 dice again, in the hopes of gaining even more points.

If you do, and roll 1, 3, 5, 2, 4, and 6, you get a whopping 2000p for a straight. In addition, that uses all six dice, and you can start over with 6d6 yet again, if you really want. If, however, you fail to roll any pint-earning combos on this third roll, you lose the entire 2550p.

There is a definite strategy involves, other than just hoping you get lucky with rolls. I know this is more complicated than some games, so if anybody has any questions, feel free to ask.

A good way to make this a gambling game is to have the everyone pay out a number to everyone who ends up with more points than them.

> Reduce all point values to 1/10 (1, 10p; 5, 5p; x3, # x10p)
> Once somebody passes the 500/1000p mark, everybody settles up.
> Each person pays copper pieces to every other player with more points than them. The value is equal to the difference in points. For example:

Joe, Jim, Mark and Andy are playing Zonk 500. The point totals at the end of the game are as follows.

Joe; 565
Jim; 505
Mark; 370
Andy; 245

Joe does not pay anybody anything; he won. Jim must pay Joe (565-505) 60c, or 6s. Mark must pay Jim (505-370) 135c, or 1g, 3s, 5c. Mark must also pay Joe 195c, or 1g, 9s, 5c.

Andy, the poor guy, must pay Mark 125c, or 1g, 2s, 5c. He must then pay Jim 260c, 2g, 6s. Finally, he must pay Joe 320c, or 3g, 2s.

The net profits of each player, after paying their betters, is:

Joe earns 5g, 7s, and 5c.
Jim earns 3g, 3s, and 5c.
Mark is down 2g and 5c.
Andy is down a whopping 7g and 5c.

Three Dragon Ante.
Amen.

Nothing better than ante-ing Bahamut. Laying down two Ones and then playing the Druid at the last moment to win the Gambit and take down the huge pot!

Oh man, I remember when I did that for the first time. My friends were ticked then.

Especially if you steal the ante cards on top of everything else.
