I have recently been preparing to start a new campaign; one in which the central protagonist's, (i.e. PC's) will be a Knight and a Druid.

I am thinking the knight will be a Knight of Old Cyre, and the Druid a Gatekeeper in either the Shadow Marches, or the Eldeen Reaches. (Currently I am leaning more towards the Eldeen).

The Purpose of this thread is to help me come up with "1001" things that could/would cause a Knight to stumble in regards to moral dilemma's. I am thinking that these dilemma's will hinge on the axis of Law vs Neutral or Chaos, and Good vs Neutral, or possibly even Evil. (In essesnse where does the Knights choice to uphold the Law, break his heart; He knows its the Law, but does he hold to the letter of the Law or the heart of the Law) What are some things that could do this?

1. A young woman makes an attempted assassination on a political figures life in the country they are currently staying in. She is determined to execute him for slaughtering her village during the Last War. The problem is the political figure is negotiating an important peace with rebellious bands of Cyre survivors and paying part of his vast fortune (out of guilt) to care for the suffering of the Last War.

2. A group of Cyrean Mourners have set up a logging town to the North of Breland with the wealth generated from their extensive operations being used to help feed, clothe, and resettle many settlers. They also accept the poor, sick, and dispossessed. However, the woods that have been ceded them are filled with Dire animals determined to see them dead.

3. A Bishop of the Silver Flame is using his extensive clerical powers to create hysteria over werewolf attacks in an area under the guise of there being an outbreak of lycanthropy. The Bishop is actually doing this in hopes the people will flee the area because it is going to become a manifest zone for Xoriat soon but no one believes him.

4. The players are going to be guests on the first Lightning Rail that has been repaired for travelling across the Mournlands. It's a stupid idea with the Lord of Blades, ghosts, and monsters all ready to attack but the investors have blown everything in making it so they intend to collect the insurance from Kunderak on its destruction.

5. A serial killer has been wiping out whole families in Sharn. The only thing in common is that they have all been involved extensively in Reidran affairs and trade. A Kalashtar is fearful that the Inspired will spread into Khovaire's families so she's murdering any potential inspired down to the very last baby.

Edit:

6. A Border Lord with Karrnath and Valenar has made a peace between the belligerent factions that both want to invade one another. The conflict will likely consume thousands of lives if the Warlord's peace is ever broken. The players stumble upon evidence that he's providing a Lord of dust the souls of ten men every year in exchange for the Rakashasa ensuring that the factions remain stable.

7. The players find out that the horrible agony from countless wounds and phantom pains can be eased with only a steady supply of a drug called orphine. However, they discover that the orphine they're about to deliver is provided for from Inspired one Dreamlilly plantations that employ Lizardman slaves in Q'Barra. There's also a revolt that's about to occur over it.

8. The players unwittingly save the life of a young Dargunn Lord whom is coming to a tourament and conference to determine the next heir of the King. Little do they know that the Gnomes of Zilargo were the ones who plan the assassination. In hopes of preventing a strong Darguun, they are arranging for a civil war. It doesn't help that the Darguun are unabashed slavers that willingly present captured women as gifts.

9. A Forge for the creation of Warforged has been aquired from Xen'drick who want to use it to build more of their kind for families but forces from the Five Nations are eager to see it destroyed and massacre the fledging community of warforged families.

10. An Emerald Claw Vampire is preying on the people of Sharn! Specifically, he's a Lawful Good Vampire of the Blood of Vol that is preying on the war criminals of the Last War and protecting the survivors of the Mourning.

Thanks, I'm going to do another ten.

I may use some of these so please tell me if any of them are particularly good or bad in your view.

I don't know if my ability to do twists is up to snuff.
