Hey, nice icon. :) As I understand it, the Quori spirit cannot be destroyed until all the kalashtar of that lineage are destroyed, as its essence is spread throughout the kalashtar of that line. So, what you posit can't happen.

So, what you posit can't happen.There is no Quori spirit that is seperate from the kalashtar to track down and destroy, but there is nothing stopping somebody from building a great and mighty eldritch machine that can rip the quori soul shard from a family line and bind it into a device of starkly incredible psionic might. Rather than an impossibility, sounds like an interesting campaign idea.

ieattrollsforbreakfast 04-17-05, 01:49 PM	There is a way for this to happen without the need for an Eldritch Machine of Ultimate Psionic Might. When the Dreaming Dark dies, all the quori will be killed to, even those who formed the kalashtar. I think the shock of having such an important part of the kalashtar's mind ripped away in an enormous planar catastrophe is enough to kill the host as well, ending the entire kalashtar race. It won't really matter to the kalashtar though, because in death they will have achieved their ultimate goal.

Destroying it might be the same thing as shattering the plane of dreams entirely and the psychic backlash could drive every dreaming mind on the planet stark raving mad leaving the kalashtar (who are too severed from the plane of dreams to be affected by it anymore) and the warforged (who never sleep or dream anyway) alone in a world of sociopaths and loonies.

There's the chance that kalashtar might actually survive the "Dal Quor reloaded" event because of the unique relationship they've established with their hosts on Eberron. RoE suggests this as a point that's up in the air, and it's reasonable to say that the Quori spirits of kalashtar are no longer anchored to Dal Quor. But they're satisfied either way. Their goal is to help the world move past this current age of darkness, at whatever cost to themselves. Ergo the whole "Lawful Good" designation. (Hi, stone_dog!)
Korhal_IV 04-17-05, 05:43 PM	...so the Kalashtar are on a mass suicide mission...? :eek: After millennia of persecution, even a draw sounds like a good idea. :P To go back to what stone_dog and ONeal were saying, if the heart of Dal Quor is reborn from its current incarnation as the Dreaming Dark, then all the quori will be reborn with it (the leader of the kalashtar-quori was working towards this end, believing that the new age would be a joyous, goodly thing). I think that the kalashtar would not be affected by this event. They have been isolated from Dal Quor for millennia. ONeal says it's up in the air, but my read-through of RoE last night left me with the impression that the kalashtar would not be affected. Might just be wishful thinking on my part, though. :P
stone_dog 04-19-05, 12:18 AM	I kind of like the everybody goes mad thing. It wasn't really my idea, it came from Chaosiums old Dreamlands sourcebook. On the dark side of the moon, there is a seed spat forth from Azathoth that is kept from touching the surface of the moon by ancient magics. If those magics ever failed, the seed would sprout and destroy the moon of the Dreamlands, giving birth to some nameless horror. The psychic backlash of so much disaster and mind shattering horror in the realm supported by and supporting all of earth's subconcious minds causes the population of the world to lose a whole stack of SAN. Then again, I am perhaps a bit too fond of my Elder Horrors. (Hey Johnny! 'sup?)
