I just wanted to thank the lot of you, on the Eberron boards, for letting me know that, well, my game, in particular, will work out. Now, of course, this particular epiphany didn't come from direct praise; in fact, it came from reading about your games, and your stories. Everything from the low-key conspiracy to the epic battles, to the off-beat characters featured in every game... this is pretty much everything I wanted out of a D&D game.

And while I liked the idea of Eberron when I had first heard of it, it's really seeing other people diggin' it just as much as I do that puts a big grin on my face. And hopin' that my game can be just as memorable.

Heh, its great to have a setting where cliche isn't just acceptable, but encouraged. I mean, really, how long have you wanted to put a "grab the item and run down a corridor while the temple collapses and a big boulder rolls after you", but couldn't bring yourself to do it?

In Eberron, they'd be upset if you DIDN'T rip from Indiana Jones.
Just make sure that, if somebody has a hand crossbow to put him up against a big beefy guy dual weilding scimitars ;)

Lol. I just got done posting in another thread how I "borrowed" heavily, i.e.: ripped off Raiders of the Lost Ark. The party members learned of an artifact akin to a death machine, that was of particular interest to the Quori. This information led them to a former acquaintance who was now the proprietor of a bar located up in a Hoarfrost Mountains. After a short reuinion, the bar is raided by human servants of the Quori seeking the same information.

This encounter was really a turning point in the campaign. Prior to this, the PCs were "rolling dice." However, during this encounter they were knocking over tables for cover, attacking from the bar to give them a height advantage, and swinging from chandeliers. It was so refreshing. Much more exhilirating than the, "I rolled a 17. Did I hit?" encounters.
