A simple question [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-12-06, 03:28 AM I am making an Artificer. I am taking feats. Exceptional/Extrordinary/Legendary Artisans' effects stack, but how?

If I took all of them 4 times, do I suddenly pop items into existance?

Each one reduces either, time, gp cost, or XP cost by 25%.

If something cost 1000gp, and I had taken the gp reduction feat twice, would it cost me (3/4*1000) then (3/4*750)? or would it simply be 500?

This is driving me mad. I'd love to assume that taking one of them 4 times would null the cost/time completely, any help I could get would be nice, because my DM doesn't like the idea of me popping in items spontaneously. :confused:

02-12-06, 04:07 AM I would say that it would be 3/1000 then 3/750. Making an item can never be free, and this division of the new number would make more sense than giving it out free. Besides, the other way would take the powerhouse Arti and make them even stronger.

you can never take the same artisan feat for a specific item creation feat more than once. Read the errata. But you can take different artisan feats for one specific item creation feat.
Examples:
Allowed: Extraordinary Artisan (Craft Wondrous Item) and Legendary Artisan (Craft Wondrous Item).
Not Allowed by RAW: Extraordinary Artisan (Craft Wondrous Item) and Extraordinary Artisan (Craft Wondrous Item).

02-12-06, 01:10 PM Actually, you apply the benefits of the Artisan feats to every item creation feat you have. So, taking Exceptional Artisan benefits both Scribe Scroll and Craft Staff. Nice feats.

You are correct in saying that there's a correction in the errata: you can't take them multiple times.

02-12-06, 02:03 PM Oh my god, i nearly passed out! :rofl: You are so right, Kinger. I always thought that only one single item creation feat is affected by the three artisan feats. I guess i have to replace some of the feats for my artificer now, cause i chose Extraordinary Artisan six times from level 1 to 20 (every time affecting a different item creation feat).
