| exosin delmar06-19-05, 10:14 PM | my Q is, can a humaniod that lost his arm replace it with a warforged arm? the arm of another creature-possibly humaniod? just a couple of Q's cuz a char in the game i'm dming just lost an arm(at the shoulder) and doesn't want to "simply" regrow it(through magical means). |
| Cutlass06-19-05, 10:28 PM | Going off the top of my head, I don't believe that's covered by the RAW. If you want to House Rule it you could, but then the various means, limitations and other concerns would be up to you to develop. Personally I tend to be more of a stickler for the RAW and would probably require that the character go through various gyrations in order to gain the benefit of a regenerate spell or do without. However, that's just my opinion and I am sure that other people would have other ideas on that. |

If you wanted a WF arm, you'd have to come up with rules for a graft, and it would probably make the WF you meet hostile towards you, since you cut off one of their arms and bolted it to your own body, which means you either desecrated a dead WF (which you may or may not have been the one that killed it in the first place), or there is now a WF out there with only one arm so that you could have two. Not a very pretty answer. Monster Manual II has, I believe, the Half-Golem templates that replace arms and legs. I suggest the Arm of Nyr, and just backwards engineer it's abilities to fit your price range. |

| Alac Luin06-19-05, 10:36 PM | This would fall under the though of a half Golem. MM2 has the info on that. In other settings there have been other things that could fit the bill, fiendish arms that can attach to the character. I'd think about something like the symbiots in the FF. This new arm could be a creation of the Daelkyr. Other possibilities, a natural claw attack dealing 1d4 damage. A troll arm, must have been preserved in a way to hinder regrowing, that gives the character fast healing 1 (do not give this to a low level character) and a claw attack. A owlbear arm, giving the charicter +4 str in that arm only. "You hear a rumor of an abandoned lab in which a fiend was said to attach body parts of one creature to another..." |
| exosin delmar06-19-05, 10:50 PM | thanx all of u. i'm not actually running an eberron campaign. i'm running a home brew that is very much traditional-BUT is see the "magical technology" of the devices in eberron (air ships, elemental cargo ships, etc.) come to light (pc's about to clear a dangerous section for the installment of a railtrain). |
| a_psh06-20-05, 01:27 AM | Well, there's the question of what exactly makes it a "warforged arm". If you just mean it's a construct-like metal/wood/&c. limb, that's probably worth the ~1k suggested by reverse-engineering the Arm of Nyr (IIRC; check the link posted above for specifics). It wouldn't really be Warforged in the sense that it would be neither living nor sentient, just a metal limb. |
| ryanroyce06-20-05, 01:45 AM | This topic has come up several times before and the prosthetic version that I like best (and have thus adopted for my game) is the Mourner's Gauntlet*. The benefit of the prosthetic, aside from having a functioning arm again, is a slam attack that inflicts 1d2/1d3 lethal bludgeoning damage, as per a small/medium sized gauntlet. Your gauntlet may not be disarmed. It has a hardness of 10 and 10hp. In exchange for this benefit, there are several drawbacks. Your limb is now susceptible to heat metal, rusting grasp, and similar spells that a warforged is specifically vulnerable to. Your arm may be sundered. Your gauntlet does not heal on its own, nor does it benefit at all from [healing] spells. Repair damage spells, however, affect it normally. A repair check requires 8 hours and restores a number of hit points equal to the Craft check result -15. A character can take 10, but cannot take 20. I haven't bothered to establish a price for these things, since House Cannith provides these prosthetics to veterans of the Last War free of charge in my campaign, as a goodwill gesture to restore their damaged reputation. They have other less-than-altruistic motives, too, but I won't go into them here. * - name shamelessly swiped from someone else. I forget who, though. For Full Metal Alchemist fans, automail is a good name, too. ;) Ryan |

In it the are kobolds that work for house d' Cannith and read what happen to all of them when Karizal get his hands on them and starts to do what you are thinking of. The Madness..... And yes the rule are in the Monster Manual 2 and in the web enhancments on the web page. |
