03-02-05, 08:54 PM I thought the name change was funny, as it smacks of a reference to Eberron's Daelkyr (sp?). I look forward to it (not as much as I would a Constructs book, though I"m obviously -artificer - biases toward that one) as a great tool for Eberron, though it's not specifically an "Eberron" book - just borrows the title from one of the more important sources of Aberrations in Eberron.

Hmmm. Hoping to get the most cross marketing out of it?

The Abs book has a built in audience since it features most of the DnD classics, like beholder and mind flayer. For some reason, they thought Eberron players were the harder group to get.

The Races book is more "generic" in hopes of snagging some non-Eberron people who want the races, but not the world. Otherwise, the built-in audience is Eberron fans.

As a side note, there are Internet rumblings that Eberron is selling very well. They may just be trying to tie as many product to the band wagon as possible.

How ever strong/weak the logic, the motivation is to get as many buyers as possible for every product.

Just 'cause it has the word "Eberron" on the cover doesn't mean that it is useful exclusively to those who run Eberron campaigns. While the four core races detailed in the books first appeared in the Eberron Campaign Setting, that doesn't mean they can't surface in Greyhawk, the Forgotten Realms, on Krynn, or in any homebrewed world you've got running on your gaming table. Of course, if you do run a game set in Eberron, you'll find the wealth of extra information about the various races invaluable for fleshing out your characters, villains, and the world from which they hail.

Sort of, but I think it will be more than worth it. I don't normally by supplements (I don't own any of the Complete books.) But I WILL be purchasing both the Lords of Madness AND the Races of Eberron.

I'm fascinated with Mindflayers in general, and all aberrations by extension.

I thought, myself, that SI meant the handbook that accompanies the Aberrations Starter Pack for the D&D Miniatures game.

The cover of that booklet features a pic by Wayne Reynolds.

But otherwise, it doesn't seem that Eberronish, so maybe he indeed meant Lords of Madness.

Then you should search a copy of the 2nd edition Illithiad and Eye of terror resepctively about illithid (well, duh :rolleyes: ) and beholders.

I doubts that, flavor-wise, Lord of Madness will be better than them, even if I will be glad if I'll be proved wrong.
