How should I go about getting the Ritual of Bonding? (Complete Arcane, Acolyte of Skin) I'm thinking about going to Korranberg Library in Zilargo. Hunting down a librarian or clerk and using the Book of Vile Darkness torture method with a dagger to gather info or his cooperation. Perhaps Korranberg Library would have the Ritual in a book?

Also how could I easily meet the Acolyte requirement of meeting a evil outsider on friendly terms...

BTW my character is a Warlock and he's got the skill ranks. (I'm the DM and have a character)

Anybody have any ideas of how I could meet either of these requirements?

I'd have him contact the Lords of Dust, somehow. Or they'd contact him. I'd also have the Rakasha do something particularly insidious, like gift him with an amulet or something that's cursed, unable to be removed, and allows free scrying and domination. The Rakasha is making an investment, one he wants to have returns from.

Although it's your character and I don't think you'd do something that insidious to him. But it allows you to drag your characters into service to the Rakashas. And if you're going for the Acolyte of the Skin PrC, I don't think that the warlock is going to have a problem working for the Lord of Dust.

Nevermind about the other people in the party, it's a group of evil NPC's that we play aside from the party, so I'm sure this would give them something to do... So I'll consider it...

Anybody else have ideas? (because once one person responds, the thread usually dies :P)

Apart from the LoD:

Hags are native outsiders, and can easily qualify. Even tell you how to do it.

Perhaps you gain the respect of a Lesser Nightmare (good luck!)

Torture information out of a librarian? In Zilargo? You are the DM, so you can do anything you want. But, for versimilitude, the Trust might take offense.

Besides, torture is just so... gauche. Best to blackmail the librarian by holding his family hostage. Once he meets you to give you what you need, you don't need him or his family. If you want to be truly vile, you have him chose his life OR his family. Of course, you still kill them all in the end.

Indeed, not only are Hags native outsiders, but they often works as diplomatic go-betweens between powerful mortals and the LoD, as well as between individual members of the LoD.

However, the LoD are not the only fiends you can look to for 'support.' There are also the fiends on Shavarath and other planes. The LoD just make the most sense, in general, for an Acolyte of the Skin.

With the transformational qualities of an acolyte of the skin, it seems to me that a Daelkyr would be ideally suited to it. A second skin seems like something they would find amusing...

and torturing a librarian is a bad idea... the trust will take you down. And then they'll get started finding out who you are, and why you were torturing anyone at all in Zilargo.

Probably not at Korranberg. Although if you incorperarate the most recent Sharn Inquisitive, they might come back with some information from Vol's library.

I'm using an acolyte connected to the LoD in my campaign. I'm the DM, but his back story involves his own research at Morgave University (the unsavory source of arcane lore). The Acolyte, Chakanin, has an awkward relationship with the LoD, commanding his own level of respect from his raksasha "brothers". I think the acolyte and the raksasha would have an interesting relationship. I use Chakanin as a field commander BBEG, with ECS raksasha under him, while the more powerful (MM raksasha with class levels) stay in the shadows. He's a great reaccuring villian who frustrates the party over and over.

I think your AoS could have a very interesting relationship with the LoD, whether he learns the ritual from them or not. Technically he has one of their "masters" glued too him. That's got to create a level of reverence/anomosity. They could easily start helping him, with plans to use him, that your character can bristle against as he rises in power. Evil against evil is always fun. (As is good against good)
