Hey all,

I'm currently running my party through Red Hand of Doom, and we're at the point where they're fighting the main battle. However, they're having a bit easier time of it than I thought.

Part of it is because they do have some pretty good stats, and I realize that they might not be having such a good time at it in the latter part of this chapter, once their resources start running out.

But I'm wondering how much of it is due to Action Points. Specifically, by this time they're getting to roll 2 dice and take the highest, which means that they often are able to make saving throws they would otherwise be failing.

Now one solution I've thought of is making sure there are more spellcasters (ie, so they have to make 2 saves in a round). Another thought is to shoot higher CR creatures into the mix (or at least add some more in). Does anyone have any idea how much higher of CR monsters a party can handle due to Action Points?

Remember, important NPCs get action points too! This balances out the power of the PCs and makes for more memorable gameplay. The sorcerer who manages to successfully dodge the rogue's sneak attack and counter the mage's fireball is a foe to be reckoned with!
