The Korranberg Chronicle (or perhaps a less reputable newsrag) is sponsoring a competition to boost readership. Be the first team to circumnavigate the continent of Khorvaire! The party will start in Sharn and must visit each region of Khorvaire (even the most inhospitable ones!), completing contest goals and challenges along the way. If they complete all the goals and make it back to Sharn before the NPC team(s), they win! The prize could be a large sum of gold or some rare magic device. As neat as this idea seems, it gets even better if you happen to be part of a large gaming club. Two or even three DMs could collaborate to run the adventure simultaneously with separate groups. You then have two or three teams of PCs competing against each other to complete the adventure. The teams could encounter each other along the way, facing off in combat or in some kind of competition. Maybe two teams form an alliance, or maybe deep rivalries form. If your club meets in a gaming store, maybe the prize for finishing the adventure first could be free merchandise for every member of the party. Of course, not everything is what it seems in Eberron. Maybe the race is really being funded by a shadowy group using the event for their own ends. Perhaps the PCs are actually smuggling gems or dragonshards without knowing it. Perhaps they are unwittingly performing some ritual to complete a magic spell. When the teams realize they are being manipulated, perhaps they will abandon the contest and work together to stop the bad guys... or maybe some of the contestants are working FOR the bad guys. There are endless possibilities here. |

If you'd like to report on the exploits of your group, check out this page: http://www.kchronicle.com/submissions.html If you're article fits the guidelines we might publish it (but of course, we cannot publish everything we recieve). The Korranberg Chronicle has no idea, of course, they have all the reason in the world to think the race in legit. But as the racers pass through each point along the race, a terrible occurance takes place, every time. At first, it seems like a coinicidince, but as the pattern becomes set, it is the racers who are implimented in the thefts, murders, and conspiracys. <EVIL DM MODE: ON...> |
