| LazarusX12-06-05, 05:12 PM | As promised, here is part 1 of 3 of the "conclusion" of this story arc. First, I will include all vital backstory and information that I can remember. Remember, this is only part 1--I'll be posting the other adventures too. Party Level: 11th Party Group: Warforged Cleric, Changling Rogue/Sorcerer/Dragon Disciple, Gnome Psion/Quori Mindhunter, Changling Bard/Virtuoso Notes: Alot of my encounters are improvised as to make them unique, so descriptions of the encounters are limited. I like to challenge myself as well as the players for each and every encounter--making sure *nothing* is repetitive--so don't think the non-descriptive encounters are on accident. Background: The Warforged is currently at war(emotionally speaking) with who to side with. He currently has Merrix in one ear, and the LoBster in his other ear. So far, he has stayed completely neutral. The Dragon Disciple is currently a "spy" for The Chamber. She has recently found Prophecy text pertaining to Dal Quor actively in orbit again, and the 2nd Ivasion of the Quori is imminent. The Quori Mindhunter is part of a newly-founded organization known as "The Enlightened". The Enlightened are a group of Psionics and Diviners(not Kalashtar only) that are actively trying to eliminate The Inspired from the world--completely. They have just found out--through magical scrying and psionic projection--that Dal Quor is absolutely now on the move, and action must be taken immediately. Breland's King: I have kept his personality and nature the same, but I have added that he is actually a pawn for The Chamber, a lowly spy. The Chamber does not actively control him, but uses his connections and information to keep them abreast of all situations. Thrane Ambassador: Possessed Psionicist. He is being controlled by an evil Quori spirit, actively trying to start up a war between Thrane and Karrnath. This is mostly to throw attention away from the upcoming Invasion. In other words, it's a distraction technique. Cinder: Cinder is the first and foremost Liaison to The Chamber. He is the main contact point for the Dragon Disciple PC. All communication between The Chamber and their spies and cohorts go through him. ECL18, Sorcerer8/Dragon Disciple 10, Drow, LA's paid off through UA rules. EQUIPMENT TO NOTE: The Quori Mindhunter has an amulet that pulses whenever a "possessed" being is within 100'. He also has an Ring of Detect Alignment, which he uses in conjunction with the amulet to decipher whether the pulsing is because of a Kalashtar or a Quori--of course, nothing is 100% certain. *So, while your party might not be of this makeup, you can certainly throw these associations into your campaign easily. ************************************** THE SECOND COMING(PART I) Prelude: After successfully completing the first 4 adventures published for Eberron, and 5 since; the party has come to be granted an audience with the King of Breland. The King has informed them that the Ambassador to Thrane would love to meet them, and hear the tales of their adventures personally. This is when the adventure starts. SCENE: The Broken Anvil, 1/2 hour prior to the Ambassador's meeting {READ} The door knocks, and in walk in the personal bodyguards for the King. "My Lords, we have been summoned to personally escort you to the Thrane Embassy. We leave at your leisure." SCENE: Sharn, the walk to the Embassy(this is more fluff, as to laugh at Sharn's "always wet" appearance in the published adventures--my party just couldn't get over the whole "wow, it's raining....again" {READ} The sun is shining bright today, almost as if the absent gods are giving one last gift to the world today. As you walk up the steps to the embassy, the Thrane guards bow deeply. "Good sirs and ladies, welcome! May we please stow your gear for you and then gladly we will show you to the Meeting Chamber?" SCENE: Thrane Embassy, Meeting Chamber {READ} As the oak doors push open, you peer into a huge circular room with large crescent tables lined in rows, in equal distance apart. All of these tables appear to angle so to face the main chair, elevated 10 or so feet from the rest of the room. Sitting in this seat is Jolesca. The bodyguards bow to him, then leave behind you, closing the doors. *LISTEN CHECK[DC25]=>the bodyguards have locked the doors behind them. (The name of the ambassador is changed just because I didn't have the Sharn book infront of me while I wrote this part, so sub in the actual Ambassador's name if you so desire). [NOTE] Imagery for this room is a mixture of the United Nation's chamber and the Senate Jolesca{READ} "Ahh, great warriors. Even Thrane has heard rumors o fyour exploits! I'd love to hear the actual stories, as I'm sure embellishment happens to even the most honest amongst us" [NOTES] The Mindhunter's amulet starts to pulse against his breast. [NOTES] There is an Anti-Magic Shell[DC 32 to Dispel] within this room, that allows for only psionics to be activated...the Thrane ambassador wants to destroy the PC's, as they appear to be the only real deterrent from the Invasion coming. [NPC: Inspired Lord, Psionicist 10th LVL, ECS] TACTICS: 1st Round: Try to Dominate the Fighter 2nd Round: Fully attack the Mindhunter, keep doing this until dead 'X' Round: Go after the Rogue [NOTE] If Jolesca can scream to the guards(which he will do if he deems the party too strong for him to destroy), 6 LVL5 Fighters will join into the fray. {AFTERMATH} By coincidence ;) , 3 rounds after this encounter is over, the Brelish guards that escorting to the embassy in the firstplace rush into the room, and look at the party with very confused looks on their faces. They try to remain calm, and the leader asks you to please surrender peacefully. The party is arrested and escorted to the Brelish jails, with the knowledge that the King will speak with them soon. The King(and the entire country) knows of the PC's(they are quite popular and notable, after all) and wants to hear your side of the story personally before any trial and execution would take place. [NOTE] All characters are completely stripped of all possessions, with Manacles of Anti-Magic/Psionics bounding their hands, as well as being permanently enchanted with Silence spells--although only specifically targetting the casting of spells, not normal voice/talking. The Psionicist has a Dampening Field around him as well, that prevents any psionics from working. SCENE: Taken to the King [NOTE] Roleplay up the fact that the King wants to believe that you did what you did for some unknown good reason. But, as the King, he must have proof to what you say. Make this conversation as long or as short as you want to until the next scene starts--if your players are actively trying to convince the King, keep it going til they are so upset/depressed that they have no proof, that they give up hope of not being executed. {READ} As the conversation unfolds, suddenly the doors behind you open and in strides a tall, thin elf with a reddish hue to his skin. The King quickly orders his guards to rush and stop the advance of this intruder, but with a whisper and a wave of his hand--the Elf stops the guards dead in their tracks. The guards appear to be frozen in time, all but transluscent. Cinder(to the King){READ} I have not shown myself publicly to be attacked by mere mortal infidels. You may be King of this small nation, but do not think for one moment that I will hesitate to incinerate your body to a pile of ashes!! --The King realizes who it is that has interrupted the meeting, and begins to cower and slink into his throne-- Cinder(to the King){READ} These mortals are innocent. I say so, and that will be enough proof for you, King of Cowards! {READ} With that, the elf turns to you and says, "No more are you needed here. Go back to your domicile and I will meet you soon. Do not travel anywhere else and once there, do *not* leave. I will not be long--for these days give no idle time anymore. Your items will be returned to you as I see fit. Now, leave! --With that, the manacles unlatch themselves.-- ********************* I will continue to write this adventure for everyone...my hands just got cramps for some reason :( |
