| trollbill10-27-05, 02:58 PM | Hey all! I own the Eberron Campaign Setting and am thinking of starting an Eberron Campaign but I have a few questions. My main concern is writing up adventures. I don't have a lot of time to write original adventures so I am looking for pre-written adventures made either for Eberron or that can be easily converted to Eberron. So here are the questions. 1) Shadows of the Last War states that it is for 2nd-level characters. Is this assuming a 4-person party? If so, would it be appropriate for 7-8 first level characters? 2) The series that begins with Shadows of the Last War has 3 current adventures. What level would the players end up after finishing Grasp of the Emerald Claw? 3) What does everyone think of this Eberron adventure series in general? 4) Are there any other Eberron set adventures you would recommend from Wizards Online, Dungeon Magazine or other source? 5) Are there any other adventures or adventure series that would be easy to incorporate into an Eberron campaign that you would recommend? 6) What Eberron supplements do you consider a ‘must have?’ 7) What do you think of Mark of Heroes? I am an RPGA DM but not all of my players like the restrictions. |

It just feels so forced and railroaded. Don't get me wrong, The Sunless Citadel is an excellent adventure site, it's a living, thriving adventure site, and I still use it, four years later, as a basis for dungeons I build, and I'd recomend the Sunless Citadel to anyone(not sure how it would adapt to 3.5 or Eberron) to anyone. However, for the supplements section, the only supplement out of the ones I've gotten(all but MOE and the Sharn Sourcebook), I've found that the only one that I consider a must have is Explorers Handbook. I'm not fond of the inconsistency laden 5 Nations, nor do I find myself using ROE stats. Explorers Handbook has saved me tons of time in designing maps for the encounters. It's NPC's, Prestige Classes, and Organizations are also fairly interesting. Five Nations MIGHT be useful if you need NPC stats, but I tend not to need them, I like to stat my own NPCs, or leave the important ones unstatted. |

If so, would it be appropriate for 7-8 first level characters? Unless I'm mistaken, a 4-person party is the standard for all of the WotC-produced adventures, including SotLW. It would probably be appropriate, but you'll probably need to tinker around with the stats of the enemies and stuff like that. 2) The series that begins with Shadows of the Last War has 3 current adventures. What level would the players end up after finishing Grasp of the Emerald Claw? Seeing as how GotEC is meant for 6th-level characters, probably around level 7 or 8. 3) What does everyone think of this Eberron adventure series in general? Pretty good, but people don't like how GotEC doesn't really have a definitive ending. 4) Are there any other Eberron set adventures you would recommend from Wizards Online, Dungeon Magazine or other source? The ones in Dungeon are alright, but your best bet is probably the published ones or ones that others have made (unless you already have a subscription). 5) Are there any other adventures or adventure series that would be easy to incorporate into an Eberron campaign that you would recommend? I try to stay away from using modules myself (though I do sometimes), so I wouldn't really know. 6) What Eberron supplements do you consider a ‘must have?’ You don't need anything if you're using the adventure path until you get to the end. Around that level is when the EH starts to get really cool and exciting, but it details random locations that you won't get to in a single campaign unless you can find a good explanation for it. S:CoT is great if in Sharn; if you aren't, it's complete crap. The same thing goes with FN and... Aundair, Breland, the Mournland, Thrane, and Karrnath (big surprise). It says nothing on any other location. If you plan on running a campaign in any place other than the five nations or Sharn, then I suggest flipping through the EH to see if you think the locations detailed will be useful in your campaign. If they aren't, then just get MoE, which isn't place-specific (afaik, I don't have it). Unless your party is comprised of nothing but Eberron races, don't get RoE until later. 7) What do you think of Mark of Heroes? I am an RPGA DM but not all of my players like the restrictions. If not all of your players want them, then don't play it. |
