| cancerousmango08-27-06, 11:28 AM | Ambitious project alert! I'm starting a new game, more espionage-based, and I think it would be nice to have affiliations from the PHB II to have standardized rewards for making nice with Eberronian power groups. So I want you people to start making as many of these things as you can. I'll try to make a couple, but I'm not a crunch man. Seriously though, they'd be really useful, as the ones presented in the book are really stupid, but the system has potential. Groups I'd like to see first: Dreaming Dark, Brelish Parliament, Sharn Inquisitive, Korranberg Chronicle, House Lyrander, and whatever else you feel like. |

| taski08-28-06, 01:24 AM | There're some in Five Nations: The Royal Eyes of Aundair, the Order of Rekkenmark, and the Argentum. That book seems to be the first place the affiliation system showed up. There are already two home-made Eberron affiliations that I know of: The Emerald Claw (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=637037) The Korranberg Library (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=639805) There may be others hidden in the People and Places board. |

| Kryptonian Scion08-28-06, 11:12 AM | I run a Wroat-based game, and the party interacts alot with the Citadel. I also have an affiliation for a home-created college called Villa Transcendent, and have been working on the Esoteric Order of Aureon. Here, however, is the Citadel affiliation that I created. I apologize for the horrible formatting differences from MS Word to message board conversion. [Edit: The Covenant of the knife, which I borrowed from an adventure in Dungeon Magazine, serves as a major criminal organization in my campaign. It should be replaced by Boromar or Daask in a Sharn campaign, or any criminal organization you frequently use.] The King's Citadel Symbol: The symbol of the King's Citadel is Breland's heraldry. Background, Goals, and Dreams: The Citadel serves as agents of justice throughout the nation of Breland. In addition to the various branches of the Citadel—which include the King's Swords, the King's Shield, and the King's Wands—the government charters independent companies to police and protect the kingdom. Members: The Citadel includes not only the king's special forces and agents, but also watchmen and other Brelish authority figures. Type: Government. Scale: 12 (multiregional/kingdom). Criterion Affiliation Score Modifier Character level +1/2 PC's level Base attack bonus of +5 or higher +1 Base attack bonus of +10 or higher* +2 5 or more ranks in Knowledge (Local) +1 10 or more ranks in Knowledge (Local)* +2 Has the Investigate feat +1 Completes a mission assigned by the Citadel +1 Performs a heroic act in service to the nation +1 Makes a significant strike against an enemy of Breland +2 Defeats or destroys (permanently) an enemy of Breland +4 Born of noble lineage +2 Fails or retreats in combat -2 Fails or retreats in combat against an enemy of Breland -4 Is not lawful -2 Acts disrespectfully to a figure of Brelish authority -4 Commits a crime in Breland -10 *Overlaps (does not stack with) the modifier for a base attack bonus of +5 or higher or 5 or more ranks in Knowledge (Local). Titles, Benefits, and Duties: A member of the King's Citadel is expected to act with strength and honor, dispensing truth and justice throughout the kingdom (and sometimes beyond). When you have reached the highest affiliation rank, whether you are granted the title Baron or Baronet depends on whether you have impressed King Boranel enough to have been granted true nobility status. Affiliation Score Title: Benefits and Duties 3 or lower No affiliation. 4-10 Deputy: You have been granted authority to investigate crimes against Breland and bring criminals and enemies to justice, but have no special status and may not dispense justice yourself. Doing so without approval reduces your affiliation score by 1. 11-20 Hero: +2 circumstance bonus on Diplomacy and Gather Information checks within the borders of Breland. Members of the Covenant of the Knife gain +1 on damage rolls against you. 21-29 Knight: Claim audience with the king within 1d6 days once per month. 30 or higher Knight Baron/et: Borrow one item of up to 30,000 gp value from the affiliation's stores once per month for 2d4 days; while the item is borrowed, the guild's capital is decreased by 1 if the item is valued at more than 10,000 gp. Monument—your affiliation, a grateful populace, or a coterie of rich, adoring sycophants erect an obelisk, a dolmen garden, or a statue in your honor, granting you a +2 bonus to your Leadership score and a +2 circumstance bonus on Diplomacy and Intimidate checks when dealing with people who have seen your monument. Assassination attempts—if you fail to uncover a plot each month with a DC 30 Gather Information check, then you must face a CR 12 assassin. Executive Powers: Gift, law, terrorize. |
