After FF & QwtBE will SotLW be too easy? Does it need to be scaled up? [Archive] - Wizards Community

This question is for those players and DM’s who have gone through the Forgotten Forge followed by Queen with the Burning Eyes (Dungeon mag.) and then Shadows of the Last War.

I have already run my 4 players through the FF and am getting ready to run the QwtBE adventure. My question is after QwtBE has anyone (both player and DM) had problems with the players being a little too tough for SotLW? I wanted to make sure the experience from QwtBE didn’t make the SotLW too easy for the players.

If it does I would like to know in advance so I can get started on scaling up SotLW. Thanks for any help.

WE did not play Queen with the Burning Eyes but I did have 5 players, SotLW was fine the challenges were a little easy but not that bad. I think you should be fine if you throw in a few more guys here and there or add so HP ot the enemys.

@Zagumus

What level were your players when you began SotLW? I wasn't able to tell from your post. Thanks.

The way I figure it my players will be around midway through 3rd level when they begin SotLW. Will this make the adventure too easy since it seems to be desigined for 2nd level play to start?

I don't mind scaling an adventure, but I hate to have to do after the fact. I don't want to start the adventure and than after several easy battles when the players are finding things too easy realize I need to scale up.

To make things more interesting have a group of warforged attack the party between travel from Droaam to Rose Quarry.

Two level 2 fighters
Four Kobolds who love to assist defend thier masters (+4 AC ontop of a 19AC)

You could even add one or two Living Burning hands spell in the halls of Whitehearth.

A large fire elemental might be too much, but if they breeze through everythign to quickly you might want to replace it with the 2 medium ones. Damage reduction 5/- is quite nasty.

Any thoughts that actually deal with the question?
