| joela06-29-07, 08:52 PM | I'm working on an Eberron campaign under the following assumptions: Approximately 100 years ago, all dwarves and elves, as far as anyone can tell/find/scry/divine, have vanished. And apparently it was deliberate, too: all their major works are heavily trapped/fortified. Approximately 30 years ago, all warforged converged into the Mournlands and seeminly vanished. Any attempts to investigate have been repelled ferociously. What would be the social/economic ramifications of both premises? I know, for example, there would be the loss of several major dragonmarks due to the elven and dwarven withdrawals. Trade would be thrown into an uproar since the dwarves controlled so much of the economy. And countries that relied on cheap warforged labor (here's looking at you, Thrane) would be severely affected for a while. But what happens to the once-elven lands Valenar or, especially, Aerenal? Would the dragons, as ancient enemies of the elves, start invading? As the saying goes, "Nature abhores a vacuum". (And yes, I know what happened to all three races.) |

Or you would need to assume it is 1028 YK or later. If you use the ECS time line and assume that the races vanished 70 some odd years ago. That brings out questions about davances in magic and other luxuries... Start there. ;) |
| SSj3goblin06-30-07, 12:06 AM | And, out of curiosity, what exactly happened to the elves an dwarves, in your campaing? If you have any idea yet... |
| Romulus LoneWolf06-30-07, 09:40 AM | ...ALL of the elves? Aereni, Valenar AND Urban elves? I know it's a fantasy setting, but that really stretches believability for me. In Eberron, the elves aren't secretive isolationists like they are in other settings; they have diplomatic relations with other nations, as well as numerous traders going out and about. And don't forget the Houses of Shadow... |
| Symar06-30-07, 10:49 AM | The Boojum Snarks must've gotten them, hehe. I'd imagine that the other races (human, gnomes, etc.) would start expanding into these areas. Maybe the monstrous races would try to claim some, too. The Talenta halflings might start pushing into Valenar, but it wouldn't be anything they could hold onto if a war erupted. Unless the draconic prophecy is involved in all of this, I don't see a reason for the dragons to get heavily involved. |
