And the above details are basic.. we are still working on them) CHAPTER ONE AN UNUSUAL COMPANION Our story begins on the road from Hatheril to Wroat. The Journey had been long, and slow. Michael and Arne had recently spent the last couple of days in the town of Hatheril, tending to some minor wounds, and collecting on some well earned rest, before beginning again on their journey to Sharn. It was just after the junction with the road from Starilaskur that the sound of battle became apparent further down the road, the scream of pain echoing through the crisp clean air. To get a better picture of the situation, Michael sent forward his Eagle to scan the area, whilst they both slowly continued on there way. After several minutes the eagle reported back with details that Michael found to be unusual. Creatures fighting, one huge, one small and one even smaller. The smaller one trapped, one looks dead on floor. Not like you Michaels instinct got the better of him as they finally got a glimpse of the situation, they appeared round the bend in the road, to see the middle sized creature hit the floor, and the smaller creature turn to face its final opponent. The creature wasn’t fast enough, and the club of the larger creature, came smashing down on the head of the smaller creature, sending him sprawling, about 5 foot away.. he was down. At the site of the smaller creature going down, Arne began his run. Charging straight at the larger creature, shouting for it to back off. The creature turned, and waited for Arne to approach. Club in hand ready to swing. He felt sorry for the smaller creature, after being told what was going on by Michael.. he did not know what it was, but knew that 2 on 1 was no fair fight, especially due to the size of this creature. During the sprint towards the foe, Arne let loose a crossbow bolt, which whistled by the head of the creature, barely shaving a whisker from its hairy facial features, he hadn’t seen one of these creatures before. But knew that it was not there for friendship. Finally breaking into melee combat with the creature, it wasn’t long before he managed to subdue the beast.. It was easy, he thought.. Too easy.. As Michael approached the scene, he headed straight towards the smaller creature. And took one look.. “Ah. We wasted our efforts on a stinking Goblin” He looked back to Arne. Michael hated goblins, but not as much as Arne, They had torched his village several times. “You gotta be joking” Arne replied looking around “ There is two Orcs here too” he said pointing at the two dead medium sized bodies before spitting on them. Michael with a puzzled expression asked “Why, why were Orcs fighting this goblin?, and what the hell is that thing”. He retorted pointing at the Creature laid on the floor. Arne began checking the creatures, finding each of them seriously injured but only unconscious, “I don’t know, but I don’t want it getting back up”. “Ok” Michael replied “You take care of them, ill deal with this one” Arne began, first with the biggest creature, bringing his axe down against the neck of the creature, severing the head clean off. Then followed suit with the 2nd and third creatures. Michael began with the healing spell he had mastered early that morning making sure to remove the weapons before he did so. Eventually the goblin woke up, instantly backing off. “Who are you?” Michael asked. “I Be Goblin” Replied the creature in a gruff voice “Who be you” “That’s none of your concern” he replied. “Why were these creatures attacking you?” “Goblin not know” he replied. He reached back to find his weapons missing. “Where be Goblins weapons?” He asked. “Your weapons have been removed for safety, now, why were these creatures attacking you” “Goblin not know. Goblin swears he not know. Give Goblin back weapons”. “No. We will not until we know what was happening” replied Michael “Goblin not know. Goblin said. Now give back Goblins Weapons” Michael turned back to Arne, “He claims he doesn’t know why they attacked” “Lyin little turd, He be knowing” replied Arne, planting a firm foot into the leg of the Goblin, resulting in a low wail. “Why be you hitting Goblin. Goblin done nothing” he responded. “Give back Goblin weapons” after a few moments of discussing with Arne, a loud whistling sound echoed throughout the fields, in all directions. It was emanating from the Goblin, who had managed during not being closely watched to pull a signal whistle from his pack, and began blowing on it hard. Michael seeing what it was doing. Laid a fist right into the side of the Goblins head, Sending him unconscious on the floor. “Tie it up” growled Arne. Michael took out his rope, and tied the hands and feet of the Goblin together, before removing the goblins backpack.. Turning to Arne, and feeling the weight of the backpack he states “Mmm. Not much in here”. Leaning down, Michael throws water over the face of the goblin, awakening him with a start…. Arne is the first to hear a low thud, as an arrow whistles past his head. Digging into one of the outlining trees. Michael hears the second thud, as an arrow barely misses him too. Turning towards the direction of the arrows, they see nothing. But a large bush, and a tree line. After another few seconds, another two thumps are heard, as two arrows, come flying through the bush. One arrow barely missing Michael. The second sticking into the arm of Arne.. “Arrggghh” They both charge to the end of the bush.. But not before another set of arrows come whistling through the bush missing both of them.. Turning round the back of the bush, Michael was the first to spot the Goblin, and followed through with his Quarterstaff. Bringing it up under the chin of the Goblin, knocking the chin out of alignment completely. The Goblin dropped to the floor, unconscious due to the pain of the injury. Arne came round the corner, just in time to see an arrow heading straight for his head.. Ducking just in time, the arrow whistled over his head, splitting a hair in two.. After regaining his composure, he brought the axe down onto the head of the second Goblin, cleaving it into two separate pieces.. During the fight, the Goblin who they had tied up, began to wriggle knowing that they were pre occupied. He managed to get loose from the ropes. And was just sitting up to deal with his feet, when Michael saw it.. He immediately ran towards the goblin, and jumped on it.. Pinning it back against the floor. “What the hell is going on here, Why were your friends attacking us?” Groaning with the pressure “Goblin not know. What friends? Goblin has no friends” “Really” Michael replied “ Firstly these three creatures attack you, then two Goblins attack us. What is going on?” “Goblin Not know… Why you hurt Goblin.. Give back Goblins Weapons” “Not until we know what is going on” he retorted. Managing to put the struggling goblin back into the ropes. Making sure they were a little tighter this time, Michael returned to Arne. Who was busy raiding the bodies of the now fallen creatures.. Again the goblin managed to squirm his way out of the ropes, but without being noticed this time.. He headed to the nearest tree, and climbed as fast as he could.. Looking back. Michael finally noticed that the Goblin had disappeared. “Where the hell has he gone now” He questioned. Walking back to the point where he left the creature and Picking up his rope. “Lets Just Leave the stinkin thing be” replied Arne. With they gathered up there belongings and continued there journey.. It wasn’t long before Goblin, began following.. talking to himself, about his belongings.. “Those thieves, stinkin thieves stole Goblins Weapons… Goblin must get back weapons from stinking people”. He kept them in site.. finally ducking down laying flat on the road, when Arne looked back.. “The ugly get is following us.” He retorted.. “I know replied Michael” just keep walking.. They continued slowly getting out of site of the goblin. They found a small clearing just outside of the forest, and set up camp.. taking turns to watch, they waited for the goblin. To reappear, he did, shortly after midnight. Seeking his belongings.. Almost reaching his belongings the net came down, catching him in mid stride.. he fell to the floor “Goblin want weapons back”. He stated as he struggled to get loose.. Michael began with the tying him up.. back against the tree.. and then went back to his patrolling.. The following morning, they awoke. And headed back to where the Goblin was.. “Let Goblin go.” He said “Goblin done nofing to you.. Give Goblin back weapons” “Where are you going “ Michael asked.. “Just walkin” replied the Goblin. Michael walked to Arne, and began whispering. Goblin could not hear it clearly.. returning he stated “OK.. WE will let you go. But you are not getting your weapons.. You can come with us. Once you prove that you are trust worthy, we will give you your weapons back”. “No.. Give Goblin weapons” he replied.. “Listen you stinkin beast” screamed Arne “you’ll not be gettin your weapons. I aint in the mood to argue with yer worthless hide..” The Goblin stopped squirming.. surprised at the sudden ferocious voice that the dwarf gave.. it stunned him into silence.. After a few more minutes, Michael untied the Goblin, and left him sat where he was.. before long they were on there way south.. with the Goblin following in toe.. It wasn’t long before trouble struck again. A cart carrying goods to Hatheril was passing by.. “Goblin hadn’t stolen anything for a while, and decided to take the chance, and as the cart passed by, his hands managed to grab a small bag.. Quickly he slotted the bag into his pocket.. Almost immediately the cart stopped. And an Elven figure, stepped off the cart, on the opposite side, and began walking round the back of the cart.. Within seconds, the Elf, had his sword out pointing at the through of Michael.. even before he knew what was happening.. “Give it back” the Elf stated. “Give what back?” Michael asked. “The goods that were just stolen off our cart” “What goods?” replied Michael “Ask your friend!!” The elf retorted.. pointing his head toward the Goblin The elf, moved the sword to the dwarves throat, and Michael turned to the Goblin.. “What did you take?” “Noffin” replied the Goblin. Michael turned back to the Elf.. “see he took nothing.. what is this about” The elf returned his glare back to Michael “My eyes do not deceive me.. Your friend took something off the coach.. I saw him do it” “Firstly he is not our friend.. And secondly if he did something to you that is nothing to do with us, you are welcome to deal with him yourself” The elf grinned.. looking towards the goblin, and moved his head in a manner to tell Michael and Arne to move to the side.. They did so. The elf stepped forwards towards the Goblin, but with the agility of a cat the goblin, planted a firm foot into the groin of the elf.. Who now laid on the floor, clutching below.. Michael and Arne let out a snigger of satisfaction that the elf had been given what he deserved.. The second elf dismounted and began heading towards the Goblin from behind as the goblin, rolled under the carriage.. He changed his direction and headed to the opposite side. Finally checking under the carriage to see where the goblin was.. Seeing that the goblin was heading for the back end of the carriage he made his way there. Just as the first elf. Also pulled himself to the back.. The two elves, began pushing the Goblin back and forth, between them. Before finally drawing their swords. Michael instantly stepped in between.. “ we will not have blood shed” he retorted “all we want is our belongings back” replied the elf. “Tis not yours.. “ Goblin replied “You stole it from me first” This angered Michael.. “you mean you did steal something” he said. Stepping up to the goblin. “give it to me” He held out his hand., “No Its Goblins. They stole from Goblin first” the goblin replied Michael added a firm voice to the original request, making more of a command.. The goblin slowly produced a small bag from his pockets and handed it to Michael.. He turned to the elves, “you heard him.. you stole it from him first” The elf looked back, and with a grin said “ask him what’s in it” After a few seconds the goblin replies “Tobacc.. Goblins Tobacc” Michael once realizing the situation gave the Elven travelers the bag back after checking the contents to find pepper.. Grabbing the goblin by the neck he drags him off down the road, as the elves continue on there journey.. TO BE CONTINUED ..... |
| 645789008-08-05, 08:31 AM | It looks kinda nice. But are they doing what u planned? cause from where im standing they could have easily killed all of the creatures and head to sharn... Did the battle made any difference in the adventure, or was it just a random encounter=? |
| krappleby08-08-05, 10:40 AM | The encounters were just a way to get the group together.. and to help merge them together as a group.. I knew that the initial meetings were going to be difficult. and i needed an initial reason to get them all together.. the initial encounter, was exactly for that.. The second one added intrigue, more questions.. The third was added because the player playing the goblin, suggested he was going to steal something from the players.. so instead i set up the two elven travellers transporting goods. to take his mind off the players. and instead onto the goods in the cart... It is real fun to play.. they are going to have to work out somedetails.. basically, the way it will be merged into the games.. is that the Goblin, stole some stuff before he set off on his adventure.. includign a book which is in an ancient text.. The book contains details of secret information about the area of diamond lake.. The other two are travelling because they have heard rumors of great wealth somewhere near sharn.. the book will be translated slowly, providing them infomration on diamond lake. to wet there whistle so to speak. which will get them involved in the plot.. etc what you think honest answer |
