Hello, is there a compilation anywhere of ideas for incorporating the AoW into Eberron? the online supplements are a help, but was hoping there was some fan contributed stuff too.

Thanks!

Send a PM to esteemed board member, aelryinth.

The old board ate the Age of Worms story thread but I assume that there were crunchy game conversions that went along with the narrative.

I'd be happy to, but I need an Email address.

Some notes for you:

For the starting mining town, I picked Karrnath instead of Breland. The ruthlessness and uncaring governement seemed to fit more, and the dark martial cults made more sense. You could also put it across the waters from the Mournland for contrast, and it's a natural place for drifters to gather.

Karrnath has a lot more 'nearby' wild places, with tons of forest country.

The 'nearby Big City' I made Korth. main reason instead of Sharn? Arena Games. Sharn's thing is racing...Karrnath's shtick is fighting. The Karrns would LOVE arena games, and Eberron's low levels can easily play to the fact a level 8 Fighter is the Champion...and they wouldn't bat an eye at Flesh golem helpers.

Tenser/ the Archmage Azure/Manzorian I renamed the Archmage in Amber, the title of whoever takes up the task of guarding the Towers of Amber. You have to 'fudge' the Eberron levels thing to make him an Archmage, but that's easily explained as him being out of commission the last decade due to manuvers by the Chamber and his nemesis, Sora Kell. He's an 'old-school Karrnath' of the Rekkenmark tradition, very unhappy with the necromantic trend of the country...and as someone who hobknobs with celestials, likely not fond of the Blood of Vol, either.

I also made him the very first man to complete all ten levels of Cataclysm Mage, although he's managed to keep that quite secret for fear of the Dragons.

Redhand was put in the Principalities of the Lhazaar...it's tailor-made, although having devils flying around and level 6+ town guards is really, really pushing Eberron's limits. Just downtone the guards and make the Dark Angels rarely seen.

The Temple of the Black SPire is down in Xen'Drik, of course. I totally redid the origin of Kyuss to make him the 'nameless god' of the Goblins, who themselves sought to extinguish any mention of him.

The Stormlost Island where the Keepers dwell I stuck in Scion's Sound.

The Rift I placed in the Southwest between the Shadow Marches and the Demon Wastes. This also extends around and down to the temple of Kyuss and Dragotha's Lair there.

Broad Implications to consider: The reintroduction of Stormlost Island with all its primeval animals. The rejuvenation of the Druidic Order that created it, probably an outgrowth of the Gatekeepers, and heralding a rebirth of that tradition (given all the extraplanar crap going on the last couple years, probably a good thing!)

There's a Giant kingdom outside Droam, in the Rift!

butchering Dragons in the Rifts, and especially Dragotha, will earn them a lot of attention.

Is Kyuss a locked away Rajah, or a divine power seeking to usurp such power? I played the latter...he would have been the first real God made manifest on Khorvaire.

The existence of the Rod of Seven Parts hints at a greater extraplanar War/Chaos conflict if the characters hold onto it. And the whole Wind Dukes thing!

A continuing theme in mine is that a LOT of broodfiends get created for the Age, and the character at the end fight only a handful of them...where do they go?

One Kyuss zombie on the big battlefields of the Mournland could in one day create literally THOUSANDS of Kyuss zombies. A terrifying thought...these things don't just go away! What will the Lord of Blades do about them?

At the end, the PC's are probably the highest level characters in the entire world. Guess what...THEY are Elminster now! Keep dropping uber stuff on them that no one else can handle...they've earned it! (If nothing else, dealing with the hundreds of broodfiends still out there!)

Also: With the help of the ghost of Bucknard, Dragotha can actually be something of a pushover. There's no such aid forthcoming for Kyuss.

Kyuss' champion could TPK the party unless they've got utterly incredible saves.

There's actually magic in Dragotha's hoard to resurrect Bucknard. They'd be stupid not to.

The lillend is effectively an archmage. Thou art making great art and stories. She should tag along.

Dragon had a great article on help you could gate in for the final battle. Best choice? A Solar who will serve for free just for the chance to annihilate all the undead he can. Amazing! Lawful Good and so amenable to teamwork, too.

My Age of Worms stories go light on fights and dungeons, and heavier on the 'between times'...what the characters do, plan, think between the dungeons and stuff. The premise is that a band of young would-be Wolf mercs are going through the mining town, try their hand at a delve, and get hired into doing other stuff, and the situation just starts snowballing.

After the arena, Caulver's team bows out, and Colonel Ruin and his squad move in to handle the higher level stuff. I did this as much to showcase the step up in power that higher level people have, especially those who choose to actually assemble an organization around them, and what kind of influence PC's could start having on the game world. Colonel Ruin is head of a very independent bunch of superelite mercs disgusted with the Last War, and he has a singular airship that flies faster then anything Lyrandar can dream of, without needing a Dragonmark.

At higher levels, the existence of Arch-level PC's is more important then armies. a Firewall sweep is a completely viable interpretation of the rules, and the implications for mass warfare are astounding at this level.

============================
"General Ruin, I've an invitation here from Merrix D'Cannith. He'd like to discuss some matters of mutual profitability."

"Tell him that there's a particularly bright Worm-born monstrosity raising undead Elder Jotuns down in the heart of deep Xen'Drik. If he and his House like to take care of that problem while we chat, I'll leave the possibility of the unleashing of the magic that shattered Xen'Drik being unleashed upon Khorvaire to him. If not, tell him to go away, I'm busy saving the damn world."
