| beelzebuddha11-27-06, 01:21 PM | I'm creating a small adventure that starts on a Lyrandaran Airship, and I had a few questions about how the dragonshard operates the ship. There are a few NPCs hiding onboard that are trying to stop the ship so another ship behind can catch up. I was wondering how easily it would be to sneak into the helm and try to stop the ship. I have the Explorer's Handbook, but it gets kinda vague about some of the mechanics of the ship and how it's controlled by the dragonshard (unless I missed something). I'm imagining something that holds the dragonshard with the shard exposed somehow so the captain can touch the shard if necessary (not that touch is really necessary). If it's exposed, will it be easy to remove from the helm, similar to a key that pulled out of the ignition? Or is it a bit more complicated? What happens when the shard is removed? I know the ship doesn't just drop like a stone from the sky, but how will the ship react? Will it shudder? Will it slowly come to a stop? Will the passengers notice the ship is stopping? I posted this in the DM thread and I apologize if there is a thread already on this topic (I'm new to the board); please post a link if a thread exists. Any help is appreciated -- thanks in advance! |

If someone else tries to steer it, hit them with CHA drain poision or spell, so they can't controll the elemental. Magic of Eberron has some details for this kind of thing. |
