Airships and Strongholds [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-21-07, 05:13 PM In my game, the Windwright Captain in my group has just received his airship. In the meantime, the rest of the party is working on building a stronghold. I have two questions on this matter:

1) How much would it cost to construct a private docking tower for an airship?
2) How many stronghold spaces would it take up?

10-22-07, 03:09 AM Since you talk about stronghold spaces, I assume you have the Stronghold Building Guidebook.

The highest airship tower (in Stormhome) is 200ft high with 6 docks per level (3 levels IIRC). The Trolanport one (from Shadows of the Last War) is 80ft high. An airship can't be lower than 30ft high.

So it depends on how high you want it, and for how many airships docked at a time. It also depends on your choice of materials and how much fen shui you want it.
Edit : you can also add magical lifts for the cargo, it's a wondrous item in the Sharn book.

10-22-07, 06:11 PM Well, I'm assuming that a private docking tower would have one or two docks on it. Like the rest of the stronghold, the docking tower would be made of stone, since construction primarily consists of stone shape, wall of stone, telekinesis, etc.

10-22-07, 06:42 PM If your stronghold is high enough, you'll only have to add a Dock (1ss, 500gp). If not, then build the lower levels with what you wish until you get high enough to build a dock.
