| ryanroyce01-10-06, 10:37 PM | I don’t see a problem with revivify. The Player’s Guide to Eberron has a spell the Aereni use for this purpose. However, I highly encourage any DM to think carefully about how they integrate new spells into the game. Technically, any cleric can use any cleric spell (barring alignment issues, etc). So, for example, this Aereni spell in PGtE could in theory be used by any cleric. But despite this mechanical fact, it’s supposed to be an Aereni cultural tradition based on their religion. *I* feel that restricting spells to cultures and religions adds more flavor to the game, and I think as a DM you should decide if you want to add a new spell, and if so where… instead of just automatically handing every new spell to everyone. Wouldn't implementing this be a simple matter of adding "Aereni" to the Components list of the spell? They did something very similar in the Book of Exalted Deities, IIRC. This way, only mages trained in the mystic arts of a given culture can cast those spells, which seems to be the effect that you seek. What do you think? Ryan |
