I've recently stumbled across some old Al-Qadim material. I was thinking, "Where would this world or nation rather, fit inside of Eberron". I would want to add it as a nation that for some reason had not as of yet been discovered; Virgin lands if you will, that have been removed from the Eberron World as we know it; they have been there all along but for some reason simply not yet been found. What would they have to offer of value in regards to import, export and how would they view the Five Nations and other Sovereign Nations. I would expect them to be discovered potentially by one of the Sea Barons of the Lhazarr Principalities, or maybe a Xendrik expedition blown off course. I would like to hear what you all think about this.

There's several ways you could do it. There may be, or may have once been, a Zakhara-type country in Sarlona. Human migrations from Sarlona to Khorvaire happened over the span of nearly two thousand years and different waves of migrations might have been from different cultural backtgrounds, including Zakharan. Zakharan humans mave have introduced their culture and customs to the indigenous peoples of Khorvaire. So nowadays, there might still be some enclaves of people who still adhere to the old Zakharan customs scattered here and there across Khorvaire. In this way, you could mix in various Zakharan character classes and customs and such into the regular campaign.

If you wanted to convert an entire Eberron nation to be Al Qadim-like, I'm thinking Valanar would be the likeliest choice.

But if you just wanted to insert Al-Qadim in it's entirety, you might place it in Sarlona or in the western desert of Xen'drick. Personally, I'd probably just add an extra island or continent to the world.

You could also make it an alternate reality reachable through the Ethereal Plane.

I'd be inclined to port Zakhara straight into Sarlona, and just have it a rather large, barren, ignored *****ula. Technically a part of Riedra and technically controlled by the Inspired, it has had semi-autonomous control. The wild nomadic people have given the Inspired troubles in centuries past, so they've been largely left to their own devices, but they control Huzuz and wormed their way into control of the native theocracy.

The Mechanist from Complete Sha'ir's and the Artificer would make for a nice counterpoint to each other.

There's nothing pulpier than an exotic new land. Make it an undiscovered continent that's been concealed from the world for millenia. Maybe it's because of giant magic, an enormous manifest zone, or whatever you like.

I might put it as some kind of ancient Xen'drik civilization in that desert, what was it... the Mechuna-whatever. But, I like Sarlax's idea too.

Could just drop it in as a replacement for a current nation. You could drop it in to replace Valenar, Q'barra, or Talenta.

Or just add a bit to Khorvaire. Planting it to the south of the Lhazhaar Prinsipalities would work.

Being masters of Genies, the Al-Qadim sheiks could hide their nation quite easily. Maybe it could be connected in two or more places, for example in some desert in Khorvaire and also some island near Lhazarr. The place could be bending in space, being larger than the area it occupies, similar to the principle in old Giant ruins. The magic involved could be planar in nature, leading the planes rule the portals. The main trades for the nations involved could be “soft” export from the Al-Qadim part; advanced chemistry, optics, philosophy and fashionable wares, mostly cloth and jewellery, for the Khorvaire nations it could be “hard” experts; metal tools, devices, grains and livestock. I would see the sheiks starting to spread their marine influence very rabidly and therefore competing with both Khorvairean and Riedraen influence on the seas.

Somehow I see the Al-Qadim person to seem something between Lhazarran pirate and Riedran diplomat, smiling a lot and being very ready to explore opportunities, but also very spiritual and educated compared to Khorvaireans. It would take only little time to Al-Qadim fashion to hit Sharn’s elite, the diplomatic conspiracies moving even faster.

All in all; I like the idea of putting Al-Qadim into Eberron, it suits there perfectly.
