All's well that ends well. [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-24-04, 11:10 PM So, to those that have played in the world, What do you think? When stood next to other settings, does it stand high? Or did you just waste $40 bucks? Tell me what you think of the settings thus far.

06-24-04, 11:31 PM I haven't even played it yet with my group and it's already worth the $40. You can even forget that it's a game and it'd still be worth it, for me anyway. The detail thats involved in it, the creatvity, its like reading any other fantasy book, minus the plot but with lots of extra world detail.

But it is a game, after all, and I say its definately worth the money. The new classes, races, and feats are very cool, the world chapter is a great read, and its a great alternative to some of the other settings out there that don't particularly interest me. It was designed specifically for v3.5 and it shows; the game mechanics in it make more sense (to me anyway) than some other settings.

It's just a nice breath of fresh air to see a setting that went about breaking as many rulles and burning as many sacred cows as Eberon.
Off of flavor alone I know it's gonna be good.

But Like I said I haven't goten into crunchy stuff yet, I'll tell about that when I can.

06-25-04, 08:00 AM I run a long standing Forgotten Realms campaign. I bought the Eberron book as I am in need of something to give me some new ideas after 17 years of dming. I found the mixture of magic and pulp has sparked an interest I have not had in a long while. I am no longer just stealing ideas from books or reusing old ideas, I am really attempting to put together new adventures and ideas from scratch.

06-25-04, 08:49 AM I must be honest I did not pay $40 for my book, and I have not even gotten my group interested in playing yet. I have to say that I have really enjoyed reading the book for its own sake. I hate reading rule books but I find this one fairly easy to read. If I had to I would have paid full price for the book.
