| Alzharade the Artisan10-28-05, 04:47 PM | Hiya evereybody!I'm not in a ca,paign right now but I had this idea so I thought that I'd toss it out there for someone to use.It's a base idea for the ship of bones,the ship of the undead Captain Morren.It's basically an encounter,and just in case the pcs get on I'll put a little bit on what I think Captain Morren is like."Out of the fog lurches a ship,black as the darkest night and gliding across the water with an unnatural speed.There appears to be a hole in the side of the ship and you are shocked to see that the entire ship appears to be made of bones of creatures both fantastic and mundane.At the head of the ship lies a huge skull that you could sware belongs to a dragon.The sails are tattered and shouldn't be able to support a ship at all much less at this speed.You can see vague shapes moving across the deck,and as you approach you realize that they are all skeletal ia appearence and wearing tattered seasman's clothes.They continue there work,guided by a spectral form.You can make out the form at the head of the ship clear as day,an imposing figure,over six feet tall and wearing a pirate captain's garb,a scimitar at his waist.He notices your ship and you see him shout and order,suddenly,the skeletons turn there attention to you and begin moving begin to board your vessel.You are now aware of what you see,it is none other than Captain Morren and his legendary Ship of Bones! K,that's all I got for now.The crew is mostly skeletons,with a couple drowned.Captain Morren is the real threat to the party.I can't make a stat block for him right now,I'll try to sometime.But what I've got for now is he's a muliticlass fighter/rogue,and either a Scarlet Corsair or a Dread Pirate.From what I think of him,he's a Lvl 8 rogue,lvl 3 fighter,and either 3 Dread Pirate or Scarlet Corsair,and he has the ghost template.The ship is actually a representation.It is at the bottom of the ocean with the corpses of Captain Morren and his crew.At daybreak,the ship sinks into the water,and at night it wil appear again,rising from the spot that it sank the night before,with the entire crew completely restored.The only way to stop this is to find where Captain Morren's ship went down and recover his body.It must then be taken to a place of the DM's choosing,preferably Trebez Sinara or some other place the dm feels is appropiate.He must then be laid to rest next to his hoard.If successful,his apparition appears for a brief moment and thanks them,then he leaves the world for good,and the pc's are free to his hoard,which should be quite large,equivalent to a level or two at least above the pcs level.The Ship is never heard from again and the pcs gain fame across the Principalities.This could lead to other adventures,perhaps there is a family heirloom long lost amongst the hoard or even something left over from Xen'Drix.This is up to the dm.I hope you all like it.Any oppinions or suggestions are appreciated.Thanks in advance. |
