| Rauol_Duke07-29-04, 09:11 AM | Another adventure for Eberron, Grasp of the Emerald Claw by Bruce Cordell, is to be release in January 2005. That will make three published adventures for Eberron; I'm assuming this is the third part in the series that started with Shadows of the Last War and Whispers of the Vampire's Blade . I loved Bruce Cordell's adventures in 2E (and more importantly, my players dreaded them), but some of his stuff from 3.0 left me wanting. What do you expect from this adventure? |
| Greyson07-29-04, 09:52 AM | I am only familiar with Mr. Cordell's v.3.0 adventures for WotC and his great work for Malhavoc Press - both of which I really like. I expect Grasp of the Emerald Claw to be pretty good. I will definitely buy it. I am sure all of will find something very useful for our individual games. My question is, will it feature Demise, from Queen With Burning Eyes and from the ECSB? I like her as a recurring villian and I look forward to using her in my EB campaign. |

Demise is a very intriguing villain and I'd like to see an expanded role for her in the last installment, even if she winds up getting killed by my players. I'm hoping that a bit more fluff concerning the Emerald Claw is released somewhere (website maybe) in the future. I'd like to run them with their own unique flavor, instead of running them as some generic bad guy organization. |

I think we should all save our comments about whether the adventure is going to be wanting or not until after we have actually been able to see and read said adventure. That makes perfect sense to me. ~~~ |

It's a very valid concern to convey, as Rauol_Duke would like Mr. Cordell's Eberron work to be on par with the 2ed adventures he feels were top shelf, and not the 3ed work that Rauol_Duke feels was not up to snuff. |

Exactly. I don't know what that other dude was talking about. Anyway, as a designer and as an author of great adventures, I love Mr. Cordell. I just feel that his adventures since the inception of Third Edition, Sunless Citadel & Bastion of Broken Souls , are not as great as the stuff he wrote in 2E, Gates of Firestorm Peak , Return to the Tomb of Horrors and Return to White Plume Mountain . Here's hoping that Bruce gets to flex his creative muscle a little more in Grasp of the Emerald Claw . I'd sure like to see it, because he can sure write some nasty adventures. |
