Let me start off by saying that I am a compulsive book buyer. Evil Amazon supports my habit by making all the gaming books I want drift into my price range. Thusly... I buy ALLOT of books.

Having said that, I recently picked up Critical Locations for D20 Modern. This thin trade paper book is a FREAKING GOLDMINE! My style of DMing tends towards a very loose on the fly style of play. I throw things together as the group moves around the world of Eberron and produce challanges fitting whatever tasks they have taken on for themselves. I'm constantly having to produce locations on the fly as the action transverses Khorvaire. The Critical Locations book gives everything a DM needs to run in a location. A map overview, a basic discription, structural features (such as the hardness of doors or walls), and a list of common items found in such a location. There is also a short list of adventure seeds for each location.

We NEED a book such as this for Eberron or D&D in general. Taverns, Shops, a Castle, a Mansion all could be sketched out in a similar matter to what is found in Critical Locations. Such "Bones" of a location are very usefull and can be given whatever skin you want. I personally do not know what what normally be located in such places. I unfortunatly am not a student of history or a scholar of past cultures. Having this info all put together into one neat package would be ever so helpfull as my organizational skills are not that focused. I can spin a story all day, yet, when it comes to actual structural elements I'm often left grasping for my DMG and putting a huge break in the flow of my game because I did'nt know what I'd be putting together that day.

WotC! Please full-fill this dream for me!

The "map a week" is nice. I do use it when I have at least a inkling of what I may be tossing the groups way. However... I REALLY like the way everything is pretty much stated out for each location. Maps are only part of why I like the Critical Locations book and think having an Eberron specific book would be grand.

I've got visions of a stated out discription of the Lifts in Sharn or perhaps the a space in the Korranberg Library of Zilargo. The Explorer's Handbook came close, but did not quite go into as much detail.

What kinda locations would anybody else out there like to see fully stated out? Maps, common items, structural elements, common npcs, and adventure seeds.
