Bocklin 08-22-05, 11:25 AM	Hi folks, So "Magic of Eberron" is the next one in line for us. While it is good and nice to speculate and get all excited about the 2006 books, let's take stock on what we know on the last Eberron product for this year. All I know is what is written down in the product description: Magic of Eberron explores the variety of magic available in the Eberron world. It introduces a wealth of new arcane and divine spells, and artificer infusions. Chapters explore the more unusual manifestations of magic in Eberron, such as elemental binding, dragonshards and dragon magic, and the corrupted magic of the daelkyr. A chapter on lost magic explains how to make the discovery of new magical secrets a central feature of any Eberron campaign. None of the accounts I read from Gencon gave more info about it than what it is there above. They were just re-hash or rephrasing the above. So, does any one of you know anything more about this? Did someone who was at Gencon saw the book or heard anything substantive about it? Look forward to hearing what you have to say. Bocklin
Altaris13 08-22-05, 11:48 AM	While I've not seen or heard anything new either, I have faith that this product will be excellent and of the quality that we have come to expect. Read: not the quality that has been delivered with Races of Eberron, and some of the glaring errors in Five Nations & the Eberron DM Screen, but the quality of CoT & the ECS.
InfinityStar8 08-22-05, 11:54 AM	THIS IS WHAT I THINK IT WILL HAVE!!! Chapter 1: Arcane Magic All types of new arcane magic from the colleges and from the war. Chapter 2: Divine Magic Spells for the different Druid sects (Gatekeeper only would be cool), maybe some more Silver Flame only spells, and a few general cleric spells with maybe a few domains. Chapter 3: Psionics New Psion powers. Chapter 4: Artificer Infussions New infussions. Chapter 5: Corrupt Magic Daelkyr magic and powers, as well as other augments to corrupt spells/powers. Chater 6: Lost Magic Dragon and Giant magic, power and infussions. Chapter 7: Manifest Zones All about what the different zones are and can do. Chapter 8: Magic Items and Feats Feats for maigc users. Items for Dragonmarks, elemental stuff and everything else. I'd get it if it covered all this.

Some about the dragonmarked houses. All that jazz. 3. Eberron arcane - The magic of the dragons and the daelkyr. And Elemental binding, with some info on the drow elemental binders. 4. Orginizations and PrCs 5. Magic Items 6. New spells 7. Eldritch beasts - New magical monsters, tied to manifest zones, the daelkyr and so on.

polt 08-22-05, 02:17 PM	I don't care about what Keith has said. I compare to the ECS, which I think is one of the best D&D books ever. It's written by Keith, but also by James Wyatt. I compare Eberron books to the ECS, simply because I've seen what WoTC are able to do, and I want all the books to be that good. Also, I have a certain view of Eberron. A view of the world I've gotton from Dragonshards, the ECS and all the other books. And with something goes against this view, I'm gonna complain. I know there's no RIGHT VIEW of eberron, but I want the books to be as close to how I see the world as possible, and I know a lot of devs. read these boards. So the way I see it, they may or may not listen to what I have to say. It's worth a shot though, and it aint hurting anyone.

It pisses me off.

I just got it and would like to know any such errors so I could note them while DMing. Any Help? Back on topic, I'd like a chapter on the planes, and one on Dragonmarks. This NEEDS to have Aberrant Mark stuff.

Bocklin 08-22-05, 04:47 PM	This NEEDS to have Aberrant Mark stuff. Yep, I hope we will get a bit on that. I am not expecting a full chapter, but some means to expend the use of your Aberrant Mark or related powers would be interesting. I also hope they do implement a proper pricing system for Dragonshards and rules on how to use them. There were some bits in the Explorer's Handbook (chapter on the Dragonshard cavern) about how Dragonshards grow and how to price them, but it would be nice to actually have rules on how to use them in items (i.e. more than flavory text, that we already have). But first on my wishlist is a Aereni Necromancer PrC and some new Necromancy spells with the [good] subtype. I am working on developping such a character and would be happy to receive more official material. There are just so many Necromancy spells to start with, and some of them are hands off if you want to play a good-aligned, Undying Court-abiding Necromancer from Aerenal... More options in that direction would be good. Bocklin

Splendide 08-23-05, 03:13 AM	Hey, don't put me down as pro-Drow! I'm not! :D I do think that its all good to put in crunch for them when its incidental to other PCs races though. For example, I don't advocate a Drow only prestige class, but an Elf/Drow or Gnome/Drow type as I indicated, that seems reasonable. Support them in official material, but only as a secondary intent.

Compared to Orcs, who have their own part of Khorvaire, served as the beginning of the gatekeepers, and warred with the Daelkyr, and the dwarves, who started out in the mountains, until they were banished for fighting, to becoming the international bankers, Drow are savage tribes in Xen'drik. They used to be slaves, but now they're just tribes.

So it seems that our wishes and guesses from above were going in the right direction(not that it was hard to guess the general issues to be covered b the book). That's why I lost on jeopardy, baby (oooh) I'm going to guess there will a reprint of what Infusions are and what you can and cannot do with them. I wouldn't count Psionics out of the book, it won't be much but there will be some sort of new universal item I would guess. As well as the view of Psionics in the over all setting. Dragon magic = Dragonmarks? We won't know until we get a pre-view.

My RPG purchases are going to be limited this game year (if GenCon is the beginning of the Game Year. :bounce: ). I do have to prepare to go to the New York Film Academy. I like Keith so, I'll try to purchase what he has written for Eberron. Magic of Eberron will only be useful if anybody demanded it or, heaven forbid, I actually write an Eberron Adventure and it's published! :w00t: That's what I'd like to try to do. Submit Eberron adventures and/or novel ideas and see if Wizards will bite.
