The group im DMing have finished The Forgotten Forge and just about completed the QWBE's. Except for Travicks return as they wouldnt sell the amulet.
The Party

Gnome Art3
Orc Barb1/Orc paragon2
Kalashtar Soulblade 2
Warforged Fighter sub lvls 3

So eventually the bad guys show up when the gnome is alone at their tavern.
I used 4 emearld claw soldiers, Travick, 1 wolf skeleton and Necromancer herself
They all step into the bar and demand the amulet. Winning Init the artificer casts invisiblity then fly next round and gets outside and goes 40ft up the side of the tower.(He spent 2days making scrolls) The claw threaten to kill 1 patron if he doesnt hand it over. He sits silently as they murder 1.Fearing the watch will show up the necromancer cast invisiblity on herself and they all rush out of the tavern. Where he promptly casts a fireball down on them. Killing the wolf and 3 guards. He then Ray of Enfeeb, Travick for 7 points of STR. The necro fires one back to try and disable the gnome as he is now right on top of them, she misses and get hit by a ray of Exhaustion leaving her paralyzed on the ground. Travick and the one soldier return to try and save her but the gnome is using her for cover and so travick orders her death rather then capture. The soulnife shows up at this point and kills the one soldier. Travick runs but is hit with a slow and then grappled till the Sharn watch show up.

Not exactly how it was supposed to go. So im wondering the implications for the party and Travick for getting arrested.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

LOL, that's the danger of a well-prepared Artie.

I had my group ambushed as they were leaving the sewers... they didn't have the firepower, or the HP, to withstand taking on Demise & all the goons.

Nice bit of luck with Demise, there...

Let's see:

Travick:
- Attempted robbery
- murder x2 (the innocent and Demise)
- member of terrorist organization (Emerald Claw)

The artificer/party
- Usage of a restricted spell (fireball)
- The party has a warforged and an orc (unsavory sorts)

The watch seize everything that belongsed to the Emerald Claw. If the party complains, the watch then points out the penalty for using a fireball within the city.

I'm sorta at a lost to understand why Travick would order the death of Demise (an iconic character no less), as the strike force in the module was under Demise's command & I'd have thought that Demise would have been smart enough to keep the party under observation and surmise what the party artificer would be up to.

That being said, underestimation on Demise's part seems to have led to her.. demise. Since the party succeeded in a grand fashion, they deserve the recognition that bringing in Travick will muster.

The situation is obviously a very serious blow to the operations of the Emerald Claw, and quite frankly it will probably work to your advantage from a story perspective as the party will already have a built-in enmity with the Emerald Claw prior to your eventuall running of Shadows of the Last War.

You can also link the events of QwtBE to Grasp of the Emerald Claw, as the amulet in question could be used to gain access to some area of the Xen'drik ziggurat.

Well, the reason he killed her was because he figured he couldnt save her in his current state and to let her be captured was a fate he was not prepaered to face with his superiors, so he fiqured kill her and run for his life.

The party do not know who she is as she was never identified so i was figuring as far as they she is not Demise so she can pop up again some other time.

Hell they all thought Travick was the leader.

But i think ill let them know they got somebody powerfull anyway. An aprentice of Demise or a servent of hers.

A reasonable assumption. Just because they're in the same organization doesn't mean that they get along, or don't covet each other's power.

The party do not know who she is as she was never identified so i was figuring as far as they she is not Demise so she can pop up again some other time.

An astute observation & very wise move on your part. Keeping Demise in the wings is a smart card to keep in your deck, and the death of the "mysterious necromancer" will make her introduction all the more easier in a future episode.

Frankly, I've seen too many threads where Garrow (the BBEG from the Schema trilogy starting with SotLW) dies rather quickly in the early goings, so substituting Garrow for Demise later on is an option for you should the party manage to kill or capture Garrow early on.

Introducing her "officially" already has a hook, in that Demise will obviously take the Schema assignment because it offers an opportunity to avenge her "apprentice."

I'm sorry but what adventure is QWBE?

Ah! Thank you for that. I am currently collecting the Age of Worms Adventure Path for my Eberron campaign. I will look it up and maybe pick it up. I also noticed there is a 3 part Shards of Eberron adventure as well. I haven't read them yet but seem pretty cool.

You may want to tinker a bit with QWTBE and the "Shards of Eberron" three parter.

They are a bit dry when it comes to fluff, so you'll need to build a bit more story around the adventure, less it come off as a railroad-type of adventure where your PC's are doing little more than going from Point A to Point B without having their actions affect what happens in the story.

When I ran QWBE, Travik took a hostage and demanded that the party turn over the amulet. They were about to do so, when the party psion tried to use crisis of breath on him. Travik passed his save, killed the hostage, and grabbed the amulet. He and Demise ran while their undead servents held off the party. Worked pretty well.

Is it possible to get 'Queen with Burning Eyes' from the internet somewhere?

or

Is it possible to order a back issue(#113) from Dragon Magazine?

or

Could someone give me the jist of this adventure - so that I may use it in altered form (if this is considered ok.)?

Thanks.

Check the back issue stacks of your favorite comic book shop or FLGS.

Failing that, back issues may be available through Paizo Publishing's website. (http://www.paizo.com)

My party was a bit larger than average, with six players rather than four, but even with an extra level on Travik and Demise the "ambush" turned into a total route. Demise did the talking, made her demands, issued veiled threats and then the party (without talking about it before hand) simply picked targets and slaughtered the lot of them. The psion in the party burned the undead to the ground with energy ray, the rogue out rogued Travick, the sorcerer halted, confused and battered the emerald claw soldiers while the swashbuckler and psychic-warrior-chain-gunner-in-training walked among the enemy crushing skewering and chopping them until they resembeled chunky salsa. Demise got away, but only just, and all she managed to do successfuly was enfeeble the ranger to the point where he could barely lift his little halfling arms to stab at her. The PCs started at half HPs and low PPs. Blech, luck has something to do with dice rolling I guess :(

The adventure is set in lower Sharn, although you could set it in any area with a little modification.

Basically, the party gets hired to go down and clear out a dungeon of monsters by a young noble, Vestan ir'Simul. What ir'Simul doesn't tell them is that the Cult of the Dragon Below has set up shop in the dungeon and are worshipping the monsters - and that he's the leader of the local cult! He's basically recruiting the party so that they can be sacrificed to the Queen with Burning Eyes - a Bright Naga that has slithered up from Khyber. After the party comes up from the dungeon for the first time, they encounter Travik. He tells them that he's looking for a "family heirloom" that was stolen from him by the cult; a strange amulet with a map on the back. In actuality, Travik is an agent of the Emerald Claw, working for Demise, a wizard in the service of the Blood of Vol (Demise is statted out in the ECSB in the "recurring enemies" section.)

If the party survives their first trip to the dungeon, ir'Simul hires local goons to attack them in the inn while they are sleeping and drag them down to the sacrifice chamber in the center of the dungeon (IMC, this fight was a disaster - the psion and the monk cut down all the goons while the artificer and cleric turtled.) The adventure branches at this point: if the party beats off the goons, they can go back into the dungeon. Penetrating to the center of the dungeon, they find the rest of the goons, the cultists, and ir'Simul near the Khyber Pit, past that is the treasure room, where the Queen with Burning Eyes lives. If they defeat her, they find the amulet (along with a bunch of other treasure.) However, if the party gets captured by the goons, they wake up in the room with the Khyber Pit, along with the goons, cultists, ir'Simul and the Queen with Burning Eyes. They also have been stripped of their equipment, and are bound for sacrifice. They have to slip free before the sacrifice (or you can deus ex machina them.) Then they have to either fight (without equipment) or run.

Either way, if they survive and clear the dungeon, Travik contacts them about the amulet. Basically, he wants it, and he isn't going to take no for an answer. My party was suspicious of him from the start, and refused to turn it over (they also made a copy of the amulet before meeting him to negotiate.) When Travik couldn't buy the amulet off the party, he took a hostage and retreated into a nearby warehouse - the party followed, where they were attacked by the emerald claw agents, who stole the amulet and escaped. (good thing they made that copy!)

The map on the back of the amulet leads to somewhere in Xen'drik, and the amulet itselt appears to be a key of some sort. This adventure was basically a jumping-off point for my entire campaign, as my party took the amulet plot hook and ran with it. They're now in Xen'drik (I had the amulet point towards an island off the coast, and I'm converting the Isle of Dread module), racing the Order of the Emerald Claw towards what they believe to be an ancient giant Sky Palace, supposedly containing an ancient and powerful weapon.
