Things that make the current age of Eberron stand out from life in medieval/rennaisance times. Of course there are the lightning rail, airships, message stations and the towers of Sharn. But what else do you think can be adapted/created? It seems the time of the American old West (c. late 1800s - 1900s) would be a good base for ideas, allowing for different discovery timelines and unique magical approaches. Not too modern The main things that would make the setting feel wrong would be guns and automobiles. Also, hats...I can't see any hats other than rennaisance fare. Besides that what could/should be incorporated into Eberron (or at least the modern cities like Sharn)? We have glass, paper...dragonshard ink pens? Eyeglasses? I think tailored clothes would be possible with magical processes. But I'm not sure if this feels right. We have electric street lights, but magical heaters? Blankets, Feet warmers? Candy? Things uniquely Eberron? What do you all think? |
