| Tobbebbot03-13-07, 08:26 AM | Some spoilers if you haven’t done the adventure. So I am soon going to be DM:ing "The Forgotten Forge" and then continue with the rest of the story. I am going to be a DM for five, maybe six players (she doesn't really know if she wants in). So I would appreciate if you guys could help me set the encounters for 5-6 players. If we start with “The Forgotten Forge”, first encounter, Cutter. Should I max out her hit points, give her another level? The other encounters: City Watch (don’t see any reason to up it) Warforged and the shifters in the sewers. Beetle Swarm Iron Defenders Saber Stuff like this is what I would like some help with, since this one of my first DM:ing games (Have done one D&D and two Call of Cthulhu). Would be thankful for any input on encounters in “Shadows of the last war”. And also, is there some kind of tool that can help me set encounters for 5-6 players? Thanks. |

Sabre I'd leave as is unless your players are all fairly good, he's quite hard. (First time I played through FF in a six man game, he managed to down half the party, though in fairness we hadn't rested in the chapel in that game.) |

(First time I played through FF in a six man game, he managed to down half the party, though in fairness we hadn't rested in the chapel in that game.) damn! i ran it with 6 players (although at level 2). gave Cutter two extra levels, added a shifter, had the beatle swarm last 5 rounds, added two horrid rats, a third iron defender (there were four, but one was smashed obviously). and increaded Saber by at least one level (maybe 2?). and they ran it through the whole adventure like a hot knife through butter...i only almost killed one player (who was down to 1 HP after fighting Saber). they did rest in the Chapel, though...*shrug* oh, and pretty much everyone in the party is a power gamer. this is balanced by the fact that most of them are fairly good at roleplaying their characters. and it was my first experience ever as the DM. but, they had fun, so i guess that's what really matters. they are finally receiving a challence now though, since i learned exactly how to edit things for them and they have caught up to the level they are supposed to be according to the adventure (4th in WoTVB.) they are good at working together and finding "out of the box" ways of dealing with just about everything, so i still have to ramp it up a bit, even though they are (technically speaking) at the correct level for the adventure. ex: Dire Ape encounter = TWO MAGEBRED Dire Apes. almost killed both the shifter ranger and the maenad psychic warrior...haha. but that's what they get for being the two who consistently run into battle both swords swinging... |
