| Medesha07-14-04, 06:22 PM | Forgive me if this has been covered; the search engine is down. I think the skills listed for the warforged in "The Forgotten Forge" are wrong. Spoilers ahead! . . On page 308, Cutter is listed as having a Climb and Jump of +6 each. As a first-level barbarian she should have a maximum rank of 4, plus 2 for her Strength, -2 for her armor check penalty (she has Mithral Body), so those scores should actually be +4. Did I calculate that right? Likewise, the warforged rogue on page 312 has Balance, Hide, and Move Silently scores of +8. As a second-level rogue, he should have a maximum rank of 5, plus 3 for Dex, -2 for ACP (also Mithral Body). If someone would check my math, that would be great. :) |
| Fangslayer07-14-04, 07:10 PM | Lets see... 1st level Barbarian with 10 Intelligence... 16 Skill points, divided out to the 4 skills equates to 4 base for each... add in the +2 to strength for Jump and Climb, -2 for the Mithril body, and scan the text mercilessly for any missing data/items... oops, forgot to check for synergy... nope skill too low, so thats factored in now too... Your math seems to be just fine... Jump +4, Climb +4, Intimidate +4, and Survival +3... :) |
| Fangslayer07-14-04, 07:25 PM | Oh yes, and your math seems correct on the Rogue warforged as well... All three skills are printed as +8, but fail to take the Mithral Body into account (again) and should read +6... |
| SJE07-14-04, 07:56 PM | Probably Mithral body got changed late in the editing process and it was never picked up. Sounds similar to what happened with heir of Siberys |

| Bocklin07-15-04, 03:38 AM | Talking of stats mistakes: 1) The two Shifters attacking the players in the sewers seem to be doing too much damage with their claws. * In the book it says that these claws deal 1d4 dmg; * These Shifters have a base Str of 10 (pumped to 12 when Shifting) * Hence they should be doing 1d4+1 dmg and not 1d4+2 as printed * On the same account, shouldn't be their attack bonus +3/+3 with the claws? (+2 from 2 levels of Warrior and +1 from the new Str score) Correct? 2) The "touch AC" of the Warforged also seems erroneous. I do not have the book here, but this is at least the case for "Saber". They seem to include the "Adamantine/Mithral body" Armor AC bonus to the touch AC. I do not think that there is a clear ruling about that in the Feats description, therefore the basic rule should apply: an armor-type bonus never counts when calculating the touch armor class. If I made any mistake, please let me know! Bocklin |
| Medesha07-15-04, 10:41 AM | I was a little confused about the Shifters too. However, under the Razorclaw description it says that their claws deal "1d4 points of damage (plus an additional +1 for every four character levels she has) with a successful attack". They must mean to a minimum of one, so a Shifter does 1d4+1 from 1st - 7th level, then 1d4+2 at 8th-11th and so on. So then the damage would be correct. Your attack bonus calculations seem right to me, though. +2 base attack bonus, +1 Strength = +3 to attack, 1d4+2 damage (or possibly +1 depending on how you read the razorclaw entry). They also did the Shifters' skills wrong. They are warrior 2's with Ints of 10, so they should have (2+0=2 x 4 = 8 +2 = 10 skill points) with max ranks of 5. They get a +2 racial Bonus to Balance, Climb and Jump. So their totals are Balance +3 (+1 dex, +2 racial), Climb +2 (+2 racial), Jump +5 (+2 racial, 3 ranks), Intimidate +4 (4 ranks) and that's all. They are short by 3 points. You're right in that Saber's AC is also done wrong; he has a +8 armor bonus and a +1 Dex bonus, so he should have an AC of 19, a touch AC of 11, and a flat-footed AC of 18. But at least they did his skills right. ;) |
