"There is no faith but the faith of evil" Eberron campaign [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-05-05, 05:36 PM I've decided to try something out in my Eberron campaign that all of the gods of Eberron are false...or at least in the context of the world of Eberron, all of the gods of the world are the products of human faith in their principles rather than the creators of mankind. The only "real" gods are the Rajahs whom are products of living being's longing for the divine and the Daelkyr whom are living beings whom ascend to this state through magical ritual. The Rajahs provide all of the power that human beings desire since they are the wellspring for man's embodied ideals.

The idea is borrowed (or stolen more precisely) from the anime/manga Berserk. The modification though is the idea that Eberron might work very real with the realization that man is effectively alone in the universe but for his own depravity that has created very nasty figures above him. To give you an idea where I'd like to go with this, I'm basically considering using this "Lost Episode" scene below as the inspirations for the PCs meeting a Rajah and finding the truth of the world.

What I'm not sure on is where to take it from there but the idea of an apocalyptical confrontation with the Rajahs slowly awakening as people's fear of another last war starts to make them beg for a deliverer....

I was thinking it might also be interesting if also THIS was the Age that the Quori feared.

10-05-05, 07:14 PM The basic idea is workable, but unless you're running a Sovereign/Six worshipper heavy campaign it might not go over very well. None of the other religions depend on gods as such, so no other faith is 'affected' by this.

Well it establishes that all of the religion's 'power' and their energies flow from the Rajahs at this point. The Silver Flame is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the Rajahs as well at this point.

The whole idea that the Undying Court have power is because the faith invested in them created the Undying Court's Rajah presumably.

Pretty much yeah. The essential idea is that faith is channeled into them and they give a portion of it back until the time that they'll awaken and proceed to reign 'judgement' that humanity (and other races') subconsciously want.

The players are fairly game and I was thinking of making it a horror game largely.

Have you considered the Dreaming Dark and Quori instead of the Rajah's?

Since the Quori dwell in the shadows of mortals dream, it wouldn't be too hard to justify the fact that the current form (and each form thereafter...) of Dal Quor is shaped by every dreaming mortal.

Other then that, let us know how your idea forms up.
