I know this has been talked about before but, has anyone worked on a "Welcome to Eberron" players packet introducing eberron to the players so they can get a feel of the setting before a game starts? Also has anyone done a this is what the average PC should know packet or powerpoint for that matter. I am looking to do a charater building and discussion session with my players before we start a every other week game. I want make this fun and at the same time put them on the same page as to not only what they can expect but, also help them in giving them ideas for "Eberron" Roleplaying styles, Common Phrases, Iconic Charater types, "Eberronian Archetypes" ect.. If someone has done something like this this great! post it please. If not well perhaps I can inspire you and help you with it as well.

Not yet, but I was going to.

I like to present players with a quick 2-pager about character creation in the world they are going to play.

It usually does not include too much information about the world, just enough so that the players can have 1 or 2 PC's 90% ready when we meet for the first session. Then I talk more about the world and we put the finishing touches to the PC's.

What I did was print out alot of the articles that Keith Baker posted on the >>EBERRON OFFICIAL HOMEPAGE<< (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/eberron) and handed them out to the players during our first character generation session a week ago.

But yeah, I basically put together an info packet for my players - still working on it though.

Man, you guys make me feel so lazy. I go out and pay for my D&D habit, read over the settings religiously, call up some buddies to roll up some characters, and I get an effect similar to this:

PC McOrkenslayer: So, we get to kill orcs, right?
Me: Actually, in Eberron, the orcs have a long tradition of druidism and only exist in large numbers in remote parts of the map. There will be a lot of human enemies, though.
PC McOrkenslayer: Man, if I wanted to kill a human, I'd just go down to the strip mall and knife a guy leaving the Bag N' Save.
Me: I'm calling the cops now.

Alas, I won't be getting my Eberron fix set up for a wwhile, game-wise. I've got that whole Adventure Path: Cauldron thing to finish, and we're on adventure number two. But hey, if you guys set up something amazing, post it on a website so we can all check it out and stembolt can tell us it's illegal. You know, business as usual. :)

I have created such a sheet, but about 1/2 of it consists of verbatim text from the Eberron Core book, and from Johnny O'Neal's excellent Newbies FAQ. Therefore, I'm afraid I can't share it. It's a 1-page (front and back) that talks about the core setting concepts, and the new races.

Could you also email me the handout at sjellis@statestreet.com please? I've got a game to run with 4 Eberron virgins tomorrow!

Thx.

Sorry for not responding sooner: Before anyone else asks, because it contains a lot of the verbatim text from the Ten "What's different" points from the core book, I don't feel right about distributing this unless WotC were to give me the clear. No sense getting anyone mad at us. :)
