Hey guys,

On Keith's official website, he states "I'm still very busy with work. I've finished my sections of Secrets of Xen'drik and am getting ready to start on another Eberron sourcebook for WotC." for his November 2, 2005 entry.

Does anybody have any info on this?

...Secrets of Xen'drik...
Whoa. A Xen'drik source book? What happened to Hellcow's ideology of leaving that up for the DMs to do?

I was away from the Eberron boards for a few months, so maybe I'm just behind the times.

Keith said on the board of the Xen'drik book that it would be compartamentalized such that you could implement or ignore whatever you want. I think its supposed to be like the explorer's handbook where it would be easy to have ready-made sites, or NPCs or whatever to drop in. To be honest, of the dozens of so races and tribal groups that are supposed to be in Xen'drik according to various sources (MM III, Dragon, Keith, Video Games, etc) I would like to see something fleshing this stuff out. Xen'drik is a big place I'm sure it won't be too mapped out or conretley explained.

The other sourcebook thing might be the Player's Guide to Eberron although still another sourcebook is rumored to be coming out so I'm not really sure on that one

Players Guide was completed ages ago (and will be out in about a month).

My guess is that it will be a Five Nations deal, but with the rest of the nations.

Whoa. A Xen'drik source book? What happened to Hellcow's ideology of leaving that up for the DMs to do?From the Eberron Journal -

Secrets of Xen'drik A sourcebook for play and exploration across the mysterious Eberron continent of Xen'drik.
Secrets of Xen'drik offers the first in-depth look at the lost continent of Xen'drik, the adventure-rich, ruin-laden, unknown land to the south of Khorvaire. A chapter is devoted to the cosmopolitan trade city of Stormreach, base camp of most adventures into Xen'drik. Also included are specific locations of interest, new information on the secretive drow of Xen'drik, adventure seeds, and encounters that DM's can drop into their games. Secrets of Xen'drik includes new equipment, spells, magic items, monsters, and prestige classes. as well.
Xen'drik is also the setting for the new Atari computer games Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard and D&D Online.
by Keith Baker, Jason Bulmahn, Amber Scott; 160 pages, $29.95

IIRC Keith has said that space works differently in Xen'drik. Due to the vast magics that were employed in the war with the Giants, the whole continent has a kind of shifting reality, where distances can change and places move. It's one of the reasons why drow have never been able to build a civilisation. So the sourcebook is unlikely to map much of the interior, just give adventure seeds, maybe some NPCs and locations and some crunch (PrCs, feats, weapons, spells etc).

You have a source for this one? Would be interesting I think.... ^^

It's called the curse of The Traveler, I believe. I can't recall the source, but I've certainly seen it tossed around on these boards before. Maybe someone else can cite a concrete source.

From post 1293 (Page 44) of the Ask Keith Baker Thread:

I believe the Player's Guide to Eberron does include a map of Xen'drik: I'd hardly call it "detailed", and that's intentional, because the whole point of Xen'drik is that it's mysterious - but it does place a few of the established locations that are in published adventures and such.

With that said, in my opinion you can't make a reliable map of Xen'drik. The impact of the war against the Quori and the devasting magic that destroyed the civilization of the giants basically makes time and space unreliable; it's called the Traveler's Curse, and it means that if two people set out for point A at exactly the same time using the same path, one may take twice as long to get there, and may stumble on a ruin the others never see. As a result, two cartographers could produce entirely different maps. The curse does seem to have a stronger effect on foreigners, so getting a drow guide will help (although again, sometimes the curse will get you to your destination faster than distance should allow), but this is why you can always choose to ignore our maps, or how you could suddenly discover a previously unknown city only a week's travel away from Stormreach. Maps of Xen'drik are guidelines, not concrete fact.

Ah. Thanks. Traveler's Curse...not Curse of the Traveler. I was close  .

I hope so. I found Five Nations to be a great sourcebook.

Heh. That's ingenious.

And I apologize for (once again) hijacking someone else's thread. I'm not up to date with future releases(or rumors thereof), so I can't help with the OP's question. Perhaps someone else can?

Just trying to get back on track here.

Wait! I've got it! (I hope) SARLONA!

God, what I would give for a Sarlona book. Sheesh. I think it would be fitting that they put out a Sarlona book around the anniversary of Eberron.

Why? Sarlona has little if anything to do with the actual primary setting for Eberron. Of the four continents, I'd say it has the LEAST to do with the setting.

What's the quote? "Those who fail to understand history are doomed to repeat it" or something like that. Unless some heroes step in to change the course of history, Sarlona is Khorvaire in less than 500 years. It has everything to do with the setting.
