| Deekin06-03-07, 11:53 PM | Sneak up on them a stab them in the back. Unless they are seers, that will works good. What works on casters works on Psionics too. |
| Edymnion06-04-07, 08:33 AM | My dang DM has us going up against Psi's... poor little old theif like me could use some helpful suggestions...Don't metagame... :P |
| DarkWarriorKarg06-04-07, 11:10 AM | Don't whine. Attack from the shadows Use stabbity death. Works real well. Psions are like sorcerers. Use action points for your will saves :) |
| Toloran06-04-07, 11:33 AM | I think it is easier just to say what doesn't work on psionic characters: Psionic powers don't have somatic, verbal, or material components. Because of this, Hold Person (Stops Somatic) and Silence (Stops Verbal) have no effect on psionic powers. Same thing with pinning a psionic character. Make sure to ask your DM whether he is using transperancy (Ie. Dispel/Detect Magic effects psionics and vice versa) or They Are Different (ie. Dispel Magic affects magic but not psionics and vice versa). |
| Gurv06-05-07, 05:01 PM | All psions wear a crystal thingy on their foreheads. It's called the third-eye. Destroy that, and they're powerless. :smirk: |
| Edymnion06-05-07, 09:24 PM | All psions wear a crystal thingy on their foreheads. It's called the third-eye. Destroy that, and they're powerless. :smirk:Just watch out for their pet rocks, those little buggers are VICIOUS! |
| BrokenJade06-05-07, 09:45 PM | All psions wear a crystal thingy on their foreheads. It's called the third-eye. Destroy that, and they're powerless. :smirk: Huh? I don't recall that from the psi book As to the question take this feat Hostile Mind [General] Your mind recoils violently against those who use psionics against you. Prerequisite Cha 15. Benefit Whenever you are subject to a power from the telepathy discipline (regardless of whether the power is harmful or beneficial to you), the manifester must make a Will saving throw against a DC of 10 + ½ your character level + your Charisma bonus or take 2d6 points of damage. The benefit of this feat applies only to psionic powers and psi-like abilities. This is an exception to the psionics-magic transparency rule. Special You cannot take or use this feat if you have the ability to use powers (if you have a power point reserve or psi-like abilities). |
| Darakhoranon06-06-07, 05:46 AM | Or you could fight fire with fire. Take a look at the psionic classes, maybe there´s one that is interesting for you. Why should your DM be the only one to have fun with psionics (which can be quite disruptive when there aren´t many users running around). |
| Gurv06-06-07, 06:51 AM | Huh? I don't recall that from the psi book Oh, sorry. Making up bull:censored: is what I do to metagamers when I DM. It's really funny to see them convinced something will work because of false OOC knowledge, then get fustrated when it doesn't pan out, when they know that to complain would reveal their metagame plotting. |
| Darakhoranon06-06-07, 09:17 AM | BAD DM!!! How can you do anything this EVIL to your poor, innocent players? Keep it on! |
| Amaril06-06-07, 02:38 PM | If I were DM, I'd require the OP to make a Knowledge (Psionics) (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/skills/knowledgePsionics.htm) check. |
| Rechan06-06-07, 03:46 PM | Really easy. Get some gold. Walk up to an Illithid. Say, "Hey, I know where some tasty psionic brains are. Give us backup." Give illithid gold. Problem solved. Right? |
| korcheck06-06-07, 04:18 PM | Really easy. Get some gold. Walk up to an Illithid. Say, "Hey, I know where some tasty psionic brains are. Give us backup." Problem solved. Right? And there just happens to be one in Sharn running around.:D |
| Xaxor06-06-07, 07:01 PM | Yeah, until you realize Mr. Flayer is going to eat your brain too! |
| korcheck06-06-07, 07:11 PM | Yeah, until you realize Mr. Flayer is going to eat your brain too! merely a flesh wound besides if your a fighter you don't need brains just feets. |
| Amaril06-06-07, 07:41 PM | Yeah, until you realize Mr. Flayer is going to eat your brain too! ...as a thank you. |
| Rechan06-07-07, 06:50 AM | On a more serious note. If your DM is using the Psionics-are-the-same-as-magic, then just prepare as if you were battling magic users. Also, if you're dealing with Psychic warriors or Egoists (people who throw energy/telekinesis around), do anything you can to break their psionic focus. And stop them from getting re-focused. Focusing pretty much gives them an impressive way to boost a power (like using a metamagic feat, or some feat-specific sundry powers like adding +2d6 to a melee attack, or turning a melee attack into a touch attack ). |

| RadicalTaoist06-07-07, 10:13 PM | There's a feat in Secrets of Sarlona called Hazing Strike that can break a foe's psionic focus. Psionic Hole in the Expanded Psionics Handbook is another alternative. |
| bobwatts41007-04-07, 02:47 PM | Thanks for everyone who had something useful to contribute (rasberrys to the rest!:D ) |
| Manyfist07-04-07, 05:29 PM | Its going to be funny if one the psionic "monsters" was actually a high level telepath and true mind switched with your parties fighter. You realise he's acting a bit strange, and he starts to mindseed all your party in their sleep. One week later you would be the only one of the original party all others would be the Mindseed clone of that one Psi, at the end of the day they kill you in your sleep. After which your DM states "Metagaming works both ways." |
| Thrivol07-05-07, 03:36 PM | 1. Sneak up to psion. 2. Grapple. 3. ??? 4. Profit. Results my vary if the aforementioned psion is a psiwarrior, higher level than you, or currently under the effects of powers. |
| yrogerg07-06-07, 12:03 AM | Just out of curiosity, since you're posting in the Eberron boards, what sorts of psionic creatures are you fighting? There's also a host of tactics for fighting aberrations or possessed humans that are worth considering. (most involve being a ranger or divine caster of some sort, though). |

Anouther good one would be: Psionic Hole [General] You are anatheama to psionic creatures and characters. Prerequisite: Con 15. Benefit: When a foe strikes you in melee combat, that foe immediately loses its psionic focus, if any. Also, if you are the target of a power, the manifester of the power must spend an additional number of power points equal to your Wisdon bonus, or the power fails (all power points spent on the power are still lost). The extra cost does not count towards the maximum power points a manifester can spend on a single power. Special: You cannot take or use this feat if you have the ability to use powers (if you have a power point reserve or psi-like abilities). |
