| Dalis08-19-04, 06:56 PM | I heard somewhere about one or two video games in the eberron setting, so I'd like to know if anyone knows anything about it? or if there is a link for more information. all I know is that the game(s) is set in Xen'drik... |
| Kesh08-19-04, 07:44 PM | One game, D&D Dragonshards is a real-time strategy (RTS) game, when playing on the surface of Xen'drik. However, when you send units into the underground, it switches to a more RPG setup, changing the play style dramatically. It will also deal heavily with the Eberron version of the Drow. The other game, which we don't have a name for yet, will be a MMORPG. Not much known about this one yet. |
| Eltarren08-19-04, 08:58 PM | From what I understand, Dragonshard won't delve into the drow as much as it will a race created specifically for the game, the shadow elves. |
| stone_dog08-20-04, 12:02 AM | I saw a demo of Dragonshard Wars at the San Diego COmicon. It was sa-wheet. The beholder was a vision of terror with an AI controlling each eyestalk. Troops will look up and track artillary as it flies over (or towards) them. Light and shadow are beautifully rendered. All in all if it is half as good as it appears Warcraft will pale in comparison. |
| Mad Miso08-20-04, 12:30 AM | Dragonshard wars makes me so excited I'm almost certain it'll end up breaking my heart. :( But if it is as good as it looks........sweet momma. Dungeons and Dragons Online isn't my cup of tea(I don't play MMORPG's) but it looks like a neat, creative product. I hope it's a stunning success. Currently, there are also 3 FR games in development, Baldurs Gate 3 and Neverwinter Nights 2, both being developed by Obsidian(composed of the Black Isle team, I hear) And Demonstone, a console hack and slash by the guys who did the those action LOTR movie games. Guess we need one more Eberron game to even the odds.....hmmm. | Save_vs_DM08-20-04, 12:46 AM | I, personally, am excited as heck about Dungeons and Dragons Online. The project is being done by Turbine (the folks who brought you Asherons Call). From all the stuff I've read it's going to be a MMORPG with FPS elements. I think they've done quite a few things right. I played Everquest for years, off and on, but never really got that into it, it was too repetative. I think that DnD Online is going to solve a lot of probelms common to MMORPG. 1. Their serves are going to be SMALL, like a couple hundred people small (compared to EQs thousands). This makes meeting the smae person over and over again easier. 2. Dungeons are inference, meaning that a seperate dungeon is created for each party, with appropriate challenges. 3. It's set in Eberron. 4. It's dense...no more running around for ages to find random monsters. Here's a link to a good article http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/dungeons-dragons-online/536083p1.html Take a look, I'm jazzed anyway! Cheers, Save vs DM |
| ChrisTheS08-20-04, 01:50 AM | DnD Online probably won't solve two of the biggest problems with MMORPGs: subscription service and laaaaaaaaaaag (yes, I have a 56k modem that acts like a 14.4). |
