Has anyone heard how many submissions they got? I'm assuming that it was less than the 11,000 submissions they got for the new campaign setting :) Also, what do you all think will be the race and class of the main character in the winning story? (I'm kinda partial to a changeling Rog/Brd) |
| Macho Duck12-22-04, 10:51 PM | I second the motion. We've heard that there was a number of 'high quality submissions' and so forth (whatever that really means), but that still gives us no indication of approximately when we will find out the results. Surely they could give us something along the lines of 'by the end of February at the latest, the winning submission to the open book call will be finalised'. That, at the least, would spare us the torutre of opening the letter box with trepidation every day to discover whether or not we've been culled (and alternatively, on those rare days of optimism, hoping that phone message will be from the publishing department of WoTC). As to the race and class of the main character, well, with every fibre of my being I hope the main characters are a) A Human Inquisitive, and b) A Shifter Fighter/Rogue. Which, funnily enough, happen to be the main two charaters in my submission. If no these two then... I really couldn't say. But I know for sure i'll be buying the novel, if only to gnash my teeth and moan over the pages of the entry that beat mine. Anyway, to the WoTC people - throw us a bone here. Come on - it's the season of good spirit and cheer. |

| Arianna Greenleaf01-18-05, 08:35 PM | I agree. Some kind of status on where they are at would be nice. |
| RangerWickett01-19-05, 12:59 PM | I know a whole bunch of authors are going to be buying the novel that does get picked, though, to see who beat them. *grin* |
| Macho Duck01-19-05, 09:19 PM | It's been what - nearly 6 months since our entries arrived? Just an approximate time line from WOTC (for finalising the competition) would be a welcome relief. In any case, I'm looking forward to their planned series of books. It will be interesting to see where the story in the novels take place, and what some of the central themes will be. |
