| PoeticJustice03-02-07, 03:05 PM | Has anyone (especially a certain cow...) learned anything regarding why Dragonshards have been discontinued? If no reason is forthcoming, I propose an email campaign of the site admins asking to at least state why the articles haven't been published and if we can expect any in the future. |
| helzapoppn03-02-07, 04:02 PM | In a nutshell, I assume it falls under the category of "why offer the fluff for free when you can slap between covers and sell it for $29.95 a pop?" Perhaps a Dragonshards book -- like a Players' Guide to Eberron, Part II -- is being considered for a 2008 release. |
| Sturm Jaeger03-02-07, 05:12 PM | This is not the first time the Dragonshards article has gone for months between new additions. Keith is just busy, most likely. |
| Bluebrush03-02-07, 05:15 PM | I think it's more likely they've got a backlog of Clockwork Wonders (Which have a somewhat questionable relationship with the setting) and Exploratory Dispatche articles. So they're probably trying to run through them before releasing the Dragonshards. Also, there's the possibility they're trying to cross-reference the info with future sourcebooks, since there's been issues of information conflict before. Also: ...I'm talking to WotC about getting my web articles rolling again, and I'm hoping to write a few articles for Dragon magazine's Dragonmarks series. |

Or rather, I'm sure Keith is busy, but that's not the reason. He's said that WotC are actually sitting on a handful of finished Dragonshards they're not putting up for some reason. I expect Bluebrush is right and they don't want to highlight the mediocrity of the "Clockwork Wonders" series (as an aside, if anything, Eberron has less clockwork than other settings, since it emphasizes magic substituting for technology, whereas FR has at least one god of clockwork and gunpowder). |
| Hellcow03-03-07, 12:31 AM | I think this has been resolved. Back in October, I turned in a few articles. Those promptly got lost in the approval cycle. At this point, I also took on a full-time job. As such, when the articles didn't appear, I didn't immediately follow up. Recently, I did contact the site admins. I've resubmitted the previous articles. After some consideration, we decided to wait to put them up until I have time to complete a few more - ensuring that when the articles begin again there will be a steady stream instead of "here's one.... then nothing". So they are on hold at the moment, but I hope that they will start up again within the next two months... and when they do begin again it should be more reliable. Thanks for the interest! |
| Amaril03-03-07, 01:43 AM | Care to share what some of the topics might cover? Mark Jindra at least tells us what to look forward to for Mind's Eye. You're not going to let Mark upstage you, are you? |
| PoeticJustice03-03-07, 02:53 AM | Thanks, Keith! I was reading the article archive and realized how much I missed them. I look forward to the new adds. |
| Arcane Guyver03-03-07, 01:30 PM | So they are on hold at the moment, but I hope that they will start up again within the next two months... and when they do begin again it should be more reliable. Awesome. Thanks for the update, HC. |
| davethebrave37103-03-07, 03:14 PM | Thanks, Keith! I was reading the article archive and realized how much I missed them. I look forward to the new adds. I have just done the same, and feel the same. ...am I your clone? |
| Teron Gorefiend03-03-07, 03:21 PM | By all means, take your time. I'm happy to hear that Dragonshards will be back at all. |
| Sturm Jaeger03-03-07, 09:19 PM | Thanks for sharing, Keith! I'm glad to hear we'll see more before summer! |
