Anyone running it online? [Archive] - Wizards Community

Hey everybody! Well, some of you all have the book now, and the rest [read: most?] of us will be getting it soon [one week for me, its looking like]. Unfortunately, it appears that it will be recieved poorly in my area. There are alot of dyed-in-the-wool Realmers and WotC haters. With this being the case i have taken up the mantle of DM once again and will be running a game for a few friends [two groups if i have to *sigh*] and trying to get a few more people into the Eberron craze, and investment in the future if you will. But this has the side effect of my not being able to play it, at all, like... ever. So with that, i was wondering if anyone was planning on running an Eberron game online? I've never really tried the online D&D scene, but my friends say its pretty fun, and what better time to give it a try, eh? Maby a few different people would volonteer to run some games, and we could start sign ups for them? It may be a good way to foster the community further. Thoughts, comments, hell bent insults and flames?

I'd like to join an online game. I have a Klooge client, but I'd also like to play a "Real" forum game on these boards:

http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=278

I noticed Trolls has some xp on them, anyone else? Would anyone be able to DM a game there? Is there a sample adventure in the ECSB?

I definitely plan on running/playing in a game using Klooge or another web-based map tool. Doing some play-by-post could be fun!

I am planning to run The Forgotten Forge (is that its name?) adventure in the CSB when I get my hands on it over in the Real Adventures forum as Takasi says, so keep an eye out ;)

Trolls, I sent you a PM about another opportunity, but just in case I would like to reserve a spot in your game. When do you plan to open the pregame setup thread?

Cool, i'm glad to see there's intrest! Well, we have a couple willing to play, and a couple willing to run, that seems like a good start. Anybody else wanna step up to the plate?

I'd love to get in on all that but koolage costs money and I don't spend money on anything but books. Perhaps some sort of freeware exsists? For the privce of coolage one could instead buy a complete something book or a players companion. Doesn't make sense that to stay in the spirit of good gaming we shoudl spend more money. Now if you excuse me I need to buy another set of shiny dice and painted minatures.

Replied to your PM Takasi :)
I will open the pregame when I get the book and have chance to read it through. I cant put a date on that, since I have no idea of a release for the UK.

I'd be interested in playing, but would request somewhere cheap if not free(but hey, it is what it is). Sometimes it sucks being a highschooler with a fast food job(that doesn'ts pay great at that).

Online play is hard to arrange, and I probably won't do it as I have good group here. To bad you can get people to try it in your local area. Have you considered getting doing a Shadow(plane) Slip over into Eberron by 'accident', they need never know. ;)

Hey, free is what PMing and internet boards are all about. :)
It could be worse, you could be a collage junior working at Harkens (as one of my friends is doing now). I'll have to drop by that thread and see how internet gaming is done. I just recently got an Internet life, so I'm still behind.

I'm a DM and will run my own Eberron game, but I want to PC it as well so I'm here to um...humbly beg to be in your possible on-line game. Thanks for your time.

I will be running an online PBP game set in Eberron soon after the book comes out. The boards are already made and a few of us looking forward to the game are already talking, so stop over and join the fun!

I will also be looking for other DMs wishing to make our game more a living world enironment as we have done in our other games on our site, so if you are a DM and would wish to join me in running a game, then let me know.

(I guess I should also mention that I am planinng on running the Adventure path modules coming out so anyone wishing or not wishing to participate in the modules we know.)

www.unlimitedrpgs.com - where the fun is at with games in the Realms, Urban Arcana, BESM, Dragonlance, Vampire, Star Wars, Ghostwalk & Darwin's World.

Email me at huckleberry@unlimitedrpgs.com if interested. :D

Along with ieattrollsforbreakfast, I will also be DMing an Eberron game, prolly 2nd-3rd level.

But it's not going to start until July 5th. That will give me a week to study the book, and plan the Character Generation information. My adventure will be a visit to the Mournlands, retreving an artifact for a gnome.

As to where it is, follow the link in the second post to :Setup & Meeting Hall (Find Games Here!):

Please PM me also. I would dearly love to play a Eberron game online. I had a little bit of experience back then with WebRPG (I think when I played using it, it was free). I also played a little bit of IRC (but that was LONG ago, I even forgot how to set up my client..)

Thank you (whoever it will be) in advance for including me.

I would love to give it a try too. I've been gaming for many years, but have never tried out playing an RPG online. Feel free to PM or email me if a DM needs an extra player. Thanks.

First, if anybody's actually trying to recruit for a game, you'll have better luck on the RPG Gamer Classified board (it's in the "Community" forums).

Second, if you're going to play online, Aol Instant Messenger has dice bots built into their chat room software.

It goes like this...

Type: "//roll-dice X - sides Y". Leave out the quotes. X is the number of dice you want to roll, Y is the number of sides. You can only roll one type of die at once, so if you need to roll a d8 and a d10 for some reason, you have to roll them separately.

//roll-dice X - sides Y

Thus...

//roll-dice 1 - sides 100

//roll-dice 1 - sides 20

//roll-dice 1 - sides 10

//roll-dice 1 - sides 12

//roll-dice 1 - sides 8

//roll-dice 1 - sides 6

//roll-dice 1 - sides 4

First of I recomend everyone checkout Lackey's site. And anyone who misses the boat on his game(limited space, and spots are starting to go), I will be starting a campaign over there shortly afterwards, and will be ineed of players as well.

I'm new to it as well, but I know the basics. Basicly(in the ones I've done) you play part of the story out through your charecters eyes, but the DMs still roll dice and such. Head over to ultimaterpgs.com where DMLackey(and eventually myself) will be running a game.

I am running one online, but I am now full :smirk:

However, to answer some questions on how to play online, there are many choices...Klooge 2.0 is the option I am using for this campaign (with a 6 player floating license):
http://www.kloogeinc.com/werks/2_0_preview.htm

Live online playing is a tad slower than at the table but can be just as rewarding. I have noticed with online play that closet role-players tend to role-play more than at the table. :)

Just to let everyone know, pseudopod has opened a game over on the Real Adventures boards here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=261349).

Due to some mess up with the postal service, my book will be here on Monday, not yesterday like I thought it would be, so my game will be delayed until Monday.

I would be willing to run an IRC game online. I have run three IRC campaigns and am getting pretty good at it. My only issue is I am currently broke and do not have the book...So I offer this deal: As soon as either 1) I get the money to purchase the book (probably about 1 month), or 2) some impatiant player buys me the book to get in on an eberron IRC game, I will offer an IRC game starting at 1st level with the out of the book adventure, and lasting as long as player interest does to the first 6-8 people that sign up (although I reserve the right to boot people from the campaign and possibly replace them).-Ryan
Ryan_Singer

06-22-04, 01:59 AM
Alright, So against my better judgement, I acquired the book with money I didn't have. Game is open. PM me. First six who PM me will get in, four after that will be the waitlist. If I decide for whatever reason to boot somebody (I reserve the right and will probably use it, if that idea bothers you, don't sign up) the next in line on the waitlist will be invited. If your PC dies, the next in line gets invited, and you go to the end of the line (assuming you still want to play). Also, as I need it, people in the waitlist will be invited to guest-star as NPCs for 1-2 sessions.

Rules are thus: Core books + ECSB + Approved content from UA. The Prestige Bard and Paladin are replacing the PHB bard and paladin. Urban Ranger is available and encouraged. Item Familiars are available and encouraged. Variant Races ARE NOT available. We are using Defence Bonus, Armor as DR and Vitality/Wound Points. Warforged just have wound points like constructs, making them immune to critical hits. Players who have item creation feats will get to choose for themselves whether or not they use downtime or craft points. Include it in you PM iif there is a rule from UA that you want to use. No Gestalting. If the campaign takes off and goes well, after 3rd level I will allow gestalting with a permanant LA of +2, but only if you are the next in line on the waitlist.

Have Fun! I hope this game works out, I am excited about this setting.-Ryan

I'm in the process of getting a game together Online. I will more than likely be running it using www.thegamehub.com (http://www.thegamehub.com) and its new chat room feature. (Though, I am more than willing to buy a Master license and 4 floating client licenses for Klooge Werks if people are interesed in going that route...depends on what the final group wants..)...I'll be putting up a website for my game very soon, called Eberron Tales.
