| lion9301-04-05, 10:15 PM | Has anyone seen use of Arcane Disciple or any of the other feats from Complete Arcane in the Eberron materials? My hobgoblin just isn't wise enough to be a cleric, but seems to be charismatic enough to be a bard. Who'd have thought? |

There's Collegiate Wizard (which I view as the Wizard's version of Education), and Precocious Apprentice (which is just plain nice for poor old Sorcerers). Of all the feats in Complete Arcane, the following are the ones I'm not allowing; the rest shouldn't be hard at all to fit in, though the 'magic hating' feats (Pierce Magical Concealment/Protection, Mage Slayer) seem a bit out of place... OTOH, I could definitely see Inspired taking them. :D General Communicator Extra Edge Extra Invocation Extra Spell Secret Guardian Spirit Insightful Necropolis Born Night Haunt Soul of The North Spell Hand Metamagic Black Lore of Moil Born of the Three Thunders Lord of the Uttercold Transdimensional Spell All the Draconic Feats |

Prerequisite can be met at first level (Spellcraft and Kn. Religion 4 ranks, must worship some deity), and it lets you know the spells from one of the domains of your patron deity. You can cast them as any arcane other spell on your spell list, except you're restricted to one domain spell per spell level and per day. You can take it multiple time, so you can benefit from multiple domains, but you'll still be limited to one slot per spell level for them. It's especially nifty for warmages (from CoAr). The spells are merely added to your spell list, you do not know them. So, a sorcerer or bard would have to invest his spells known in spells he won't be able to cast more than once per day... Bards and assassins are limited to 6th and 4th level, and won't benefit as much from it. But a warmage can cast spontaneously all the spells on his spell list, and he get spells up to ninth level. |

They were the one's I thought had the most potential for fitting into Eberron. Black Lore of Moil might be taught by the Blood of Vol. Born of the Three Thunders could be a technique used by the mages of House Lyrandar. Lord of the Uttercold is a bit harder, but might fit with certain Cults of the Dragon Below. I liked these feats because they seemed to have the most flavor involved, with a little crunch added in. I was thinking of allowing the Dragon feats to the Serens and Argonnessens. Not representing actual draconic lineage, but more on the same level as the Dragon Totem feat. Insightful, Necropolis Born, Night Haunt, Soul of The North, and Spell Hand are definately out, however. |
| Gez01-05-05, 12:36 PM | Yes, the "take a feat and get some once/day spell-like abilities" niche is already taken by dragonmarks, so these feats must either be left out entirely, or restricted to the most appropriate dragonmarked house and/or people who already have an aberrant dragonmark -- they can't be put as-is without slapping them additional prerequisites. I don't see the problem with transdimensional spell. |
| lion9301-05-05, 05:40 PM | you are, of course, correct. my apologies for referencing the wrong book. so many hardbacks, my brain is swimming. thanks for the help! i just haven't seen a lot of stuff from the 'Complete' books in the Eberron setting, so i was wondering if there was precedent. |
| Arcane Guyver01-06-05, 12:01 AM | I might add those metamagic feats back in once I figure out a good place for each. I'm not sure why I put Transdimensional Spell on that list, though. |

No one's going to take it unless they fancy themselves a Ghostbuster anyway. Now, what do people think about the various PrCs? Which one's are people letting into their games, and which ones are banned? I'm making Alienist availabe to some Cults of the Dragon Below (those tied to the daelkyr) and Acolyte of the Skin just needs some tinkering to match better with the rakshasa. Blood Magus is a good PrC for the Blood of Vol. Fatespinner might be a good way to go with a spellcaster interested in the Draconic Prophecy. Mage of the Arcane Order would make sense if one of the magical institutes (Arcanix or The Twelve) created an eldritch machine called the Spellpool. Mindbender makes some great villians, or could be the Inspired's research into magic. Seeker of the Song and Sublime Chord could both have ties to the legend of The Song of Siberys, mentioned briefly in the ECS. Wayfarer Guides could work for House Orien; if the DM allowed, members of the House capable of teleporting due to dragonmarks might be allowed to take the class. |
| Gez01-07-05, 02:16 AM | The Geometer seems perfect for House Sivis (for their mark of Scribing) and House Cannith (for their complicated construction schemas). |
