Artisan Feats and Craft skill [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-05-06, 10:35 PM A friend of mine is going to run an eberron campaign, and I'm going to play a wizzard. Now I was looking at the available feats for Eberron and I found some intrest in the artisan feats. I'm well aware of the fact, that any of these feats can be taken only once, but there is still something I'm not quite sure about. The introduction text says: "You are an expert at creating magic items...", however the benefit says:"...you need to craft any item...". My question is now, does this feat apply to items that are created with the Craft (whaterver) skill?
For example, I'm planing to take some ranks in Craft (alchemy). Would I reduce the base price of the item, when determing the time to create, if had the appropiate feat?

I was trying to search for an answer, but unfortunately I haven't found anything regarding this.

05-27-06, 08:20 PM As I read it the description for extrordinary artisian you would reduce the cost by 25%. It states in the description TO CRAFT ANY ITEM. Legendary artisian states for magic items because you use xp where general items you do not use xp

05-28-06, 09:50 AM Given both the introductory text and the prerequisite (any item creation feat) for all three of the artisan feats, the implication would certainly seem to be that these are for magic items only.

Would these feats apply on the creation of those items too, or aren't psionic item creation feats any item creation feats? Besides that, you have to be a spellcaster to create special substances and items with Craft (alchemy). Doesn't that imply, that those substances and items are to a small degree magical?

If the artisan feats don't apply to items created with the Craft skill, are there any other feats that would help to reduce the material costs or the time to create?
